My theory is that this place is hell, right here and when we die we all go to the same place (Heaven). If we do something bad here, we will pay for it later in life, (Karma) I think it's called.
This theory is extremely interesting, but you being Catholic, what about suicide? This is considered a sin, but by this logic it is also the easiest escape from this Hell Earth and the reprecussions brought on by Karma, a fantastic loophole for sure.

Not if you did something bad to someone else and suicide is your punishment.
    Loophole......for sure...perhaps.....maybe...

    1) It's hardly punishment when it's escape from Hell.

    2) What if the sole purpose of the suicide was escape from Earth and not a reprecussion for a sin brought onto someone else?

Also, Captain Vegetable, yeah its not your job to convince non believers, but it would be a immoral act to not TRY to. If you really believe God is wonderful and your relationship with him is the best thing in life, why would you not TRY to share that with other people? How can you say you are trying to show good will to your fellow man when you don't try to share the greatest thing known with others?
I am trying to share, but it's up to them to accept my goodwill. Master of 7's really put the nail in this coffin. If you have questions, re-read his post. He made excellent points.

I don't believe I ever said that my thoughts on the matter were how it was, and the only way it could be. In fact I think I typed out about a page on how I don't know how anyone could think they knew 100% about the correct religion.
OK...so stop acting like you know how I should act.

And I'm obnoxious now, because I don't have a PERSONAL relationship with God? How personal is your relationship with God? You talk as if you and him go play golf together while he explains all these complex matters to you that the rest of us, just don't quite get.
You're not obnoxious because you don't have a personal relationship with God...you're obnoxious because you don't have a personal relationship with God, and are telling me how a "proper" Christian behaves.

I have as personal relationship with Jesus Christ as I have with my fiancee. I can't prove it to you, and this most definatly will be difficult for you to grasp, but my relationship is personal. As personal as a relationship can be.

You know I love reveluations to. They are some great stuff. They come in so many great sizes and shapes, flavors and colors. One man will get a revaluation and think that Black people should be enslaved in the name of the lord, and others will get one and think that a big huge plain has to be stuck into a very important building, maybe even two buildings. Who needs the bible when you can have a revelation, I mean they all have to come from God don't they? The bible may say "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" but you know what? You can have a wonderful revelation to negate that. Heck lets all throw our Bibles away, we don't need them God's already made up his mind.
There's a difference between a "lie" and a "revelation." It'd do you good to be able to tell the difference.

And since the Koran was written by an illiterate man who was visited by a demon in a desert cave, that means it\'s true.

Allah is not Yaweh. Yaweh is triune, i.e. has three persons, yet is one. Jesus is God, The Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. Allah is a single entity. Mosslims discredit Christ as God, and they believe in no such thing as the Holy Spirit.

They are not the same. Reguardless of what the Koran says.

The same God has proven Himself to the suicide bombers who kill your kinsmen. Are you all going to the same heaven?
No. The father of lies has coersed them into a living a lie.

Again, they are not the same God.

I'm not too familiar with the bible, but Captain Vegatable, are all of God's children supposed to experience some sort of personal relation with God, or are you a special example?

But wouldn't that make Him the creator of all life by default?
Technically, yes, it would make him our furthest ancestor. But most Christains don't believe in the theory of evolution, but rather all species were put here on earth by god.

And Rick, it's supposed to be something we strive for, through prayer and worship. Usually the phrase personal relationship would just mean you talk to God on a regular basis (prayer), and turn to him in times of need.

And to clear up my belief in no need for the 3rd COmmandment, it means that one should have a personal relationship with God through prayer and worship, but without the necessity of doing it at church and receiving the Holy Communion.

No he is not special, he is the same as every Christian who truly believes in our Lord Jesus Christ. Now perhaps you wonder why I keep emphasizing "true believer". Simple, there are many false believers within the church and they can sometimes be difficult to spot. They walk the walk and they can talk the talk with the best of them, but their hearts are so filled with hatred, bitterness and darkness that a chasm separates them from ever truly knowing God.

But back to the personal relationship. Paul says that we are God's children through the spirit of adoption. This means that through the sacrifice of our Lord and the quickening of our souls by the Holy Spirit, we are reborn and no longer have the relationship of Creator and created thing, but that of Father and child, Brother and brother, Spirit and temple.

That means exactly what it sounds like. Through our faith and the washing of our selves in the Blood of Christ we become God's own legitimate children, Jesus' true blood brethren, and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirt.
This ties in directly to what I said about false believers because many are called, but few are chosen. There be many who say "Lord this" and "Lord that", but not many who believe. They will say "Lord we cast out demons in Your name." and "Lord look at all the great works we do in Your name." And He will look at them and say "Blasphemers and workers of iniquity! Depart from My presence for surely I do not know thee."
You see, there are many who call upon the name of the Lord, but there are few who call Him Abba/Father. It is the same as a Hollywood superstar. Everyone knows their name and knows of them, but how many people actually have an interpersonal relationship with them? Very very few. Likewise I could be Jesus' biggest fan. I could know of His works and words and His sacrifice, but if I'm not Family I probably shouldn't expect to be invited to the reunion or expect that I'll be allowed to stay if show up without an invitation.

You will often hear it said that all of humankind are children of God. This is a lie, meant to lull people into a false sense of complacency. All are creations of God, but not all are counted as heirs to the things of God and the Kingdom.
