So What did you think about KIDS + GUMMO?

Man the first time I saw Kids I was a little shocked. The NC-17 was well deserved. It's amazing how careless and depraved some of these Teens could be, I really loathed the two characters. Esp how he took advantage of the first girl.

Gummo well some of the subjects are so Taboo and bizarre, but I did get a few laughs like the kid selling chocolate, and when the Mom said I'll shoot you or something like that if he didn't smile. What the Fuck was that dude itching so much? The Midget on the couch and the dude hitting on him was wierd, as was the way some of these ppl lived. Yeah the bathtub scene was sickening.

What are your thoughts on these unique Movies?

Check em out if your into different and independent films but be warned they are both graphic and at times disturbing but I found them to be worth the view, even though some of the harsher images are burned into my head.

  2. Well I got Kids on DVD. Funny shit. The beatdown scene at the park stands out as the highlight of the movie. Casper was the shit as well, funny guy. I don't know if you heard this, but sadly, the actor that played him (Justin Pierce) hung himself in a hotel room around the time Next Friday came out(another movie he was in as "Roach").

Never seen Gummo and don't really want to. Kids isn't really all that odd, cause most of the people I knew in high school were like that, but I've heard alot of weird shit about Gummo. Doesn't really interest me.

Yeah that was pretty sad he had just gotten a major break with the Friday Movie too.

Doug did ya see Bully? It's alot like Kid's but a true story good stuff, again it is very disturbing but Brad Renfro has a great preformance. I saw the R-rated one but I'd like to see the directors cut. Some of the same cast too.

  4. Bully? No can't say that I have...sound interesting though. When did it come out? I might give it a look when I get some cash.

It came out in 2001 in the theatres in limited release. Fuckin Blockbuster only carried the watered down version but still shocking, now I need to see the director's cut.

Actually I liked this Better than Kids plus its alot more violent and once again they are all Teens.

  6. Well, Saw Kids a while ago, and it was kinda a weird film, and some characters were fucked up.

Never seen Gummo, nor Bully. Not sure if want to.

  7. Sensationalist and schlock movies that deserve to be seen only once and not more.

  8. Well Sqoon I kind of agree with you on that. I usually show it when alot of people are over though and there's nothing else to do.

  9. Never saw Gummo (although I've heard all about it), and Kids was lame.

While I do enjoy all of Harmony Korine's movies I do agree that they are very sensationalist and exploitive and, as such, it's a bit hard far me to appreciate them as true pieces of art. But they all flirt with being great from time to time.
