I agree..I thought the movie was great..never read the short, didn't see it in the theaters..Saw it on video when it first came out and loved it instantly...Still watch it to this day too...
What a Great Movie! Saw the Movie when it first came out never having read the short and loved it. The story is compelling and Morgan Freeman is Great. Warden is a total prick along with the guards but the Movie offers hope in a bleak situation. What are you thoughts on this Movie?

Yes, this is indeed a great movie, one of my favorite of all time. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are both amazing in it. It's one of those movies that although I've seen it a bunch of times, anytime that it's on TV I'll watch it, just because it's that enjoyable. It's a testament to hope and how important it is.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
I've mentioned several times on this board that it is, indeed, my favorite movie of all time. It's very moving and very beautiful and speaks to anyone who feels trapped and wants to get out (you don't actually have to be in jail to relate to that). I watch it anytime that it is on TV even though they edit the shit out of it.

its the greatist story ever told on film.
Nice to see you guys liked it. Heh I watch it on TV too whenever it's on also, though edited heavily I still enjoy it.
Though somehat different did you guys like THE GREEN MILE?
Green Mile was the other Steven King book that was made perfectly into a movie. King works are hard to make into films and only his short works or novellas are made trully well.
Sidenote: The story that Shawshank was based on is in "Book of Seasons" (i think), a collection of 4 non-horror king novella's. It also has "The Body", the story that the film "Stand by Me" was based on.

The Green Mile was too damn long. :/
The Dead Zone is still my favorite Stephen King adaptation.Originally posted by amerlop

One of my favorite movies of all time. Incredible performances all around, and the story and message it delivers is timeless.
