Thread: Life Drawing: Portraits

  1. Life Drawing: Portraits

These are a couple of old portraits I did a while back. I didn't realize I still had these on my computer. Sorry for the bad pics.

  2. Very nice -- of anyone in particular?

  3. nice. I had the brightness all the way down and was about to comment on the odd lighting. x_X

  4. Those are nice cigs. Different than the rest of the stuff I've seen from ya. Keep it up.

  5. Very nice -- of anyone in particular?
Not really, just models at my school. The second one is this woman named Eka. It actually said "Eka" on that heart, but I forgot to put it on there in the drawing. It's not uncommonm to see her sitting on the steps out front playinag a small flute.

And thanks for the comments guys.

  6. very nice stuff really like the first one alot

  7. This work really shows off your light and shade skills, especially the one that appears to be white drawn into black, if I am correct.

Now that I have broken out of the slump, I think I am going to work on my own light and shade, it has always been an issue for me.

Good work! If I don't compliment your other posts, it means my DC locked up again.

  8. Those are really nice cigs, Is this from a figure drawing class? Sadly my life drawing skills still need some work. I give you props for making something so finished & refined from life. I know it is much more difficult than it seems. I really want to take some figure drawing classes at the local University sometime this year. I never went to school for art (just an incomplete commerial art course at the local Tech college), so I'm pretty weak in the drawing from life area. I want to take Figure drawing & painting, but almost all of the students there are such art snobs. That kinda keeps me away.

  9. MY life Drawing class was a pain. I had one of those teachers who teaches his own art style rather than attempts to develop a student's own art style. Then he would give us homework. Homework in a Life drawing class means finding your own model. I would not need a life drawing class if I had models of my own. They finally caved in and hired a model on weekends for homework assignments. Not bad for me, because I could get there on Saturdays, but it did not go well for some other students.

I now use Model Books, like the pose File Series from Japan. I find it a lot more useful than the American "Virtual Pose" series. There is a whole lot more reference photos, and each book has a theme! I have every one except 6, and the new one that is either about to come out, or just came out, I must check.
