    Except you need add ons to use it. There will be non-whole year deals for XBL this fall, no matter what, you gotta pay $40 for PS2.

  2. {Rant}
    I have always wondered how it is a "good thing" that the xbox network is broadband only. I say this because there would be so much more oppurtunities if dial-up users were allowed as well, dial-up might be only able to handle one on one matches though. Even so, I see no reason to lock out dial-up users as there are going to be a lot of great players missing out simply because they don't have broadband.

    There will be more people online with their PS2s by 1/1/2003 than there are total Xbox consoles worldwide, add-ons or not.

  4. this is not cool...at...all....

  5. You see... This is the kind of debate that Nintendo had internally that led them to their current stance on online gaming. Good for them.

  6. Honestly...

    Why is everyone so bent on online gaming?

    What can you do online that you can't do offline? Games that have dynamic worlds (like EverQuest, though I won't touch it) I can see. PSO to a lesser degree. But honestly, I really don't care about playing Madden with someone from Malaysia when I can play the CPU or a friend.

    And I really don't think I'm alone.

    I doubt that.

    Tough shit I say. You\'re complaining about the best feature on a shrinking list of pros in XBL\'s favor.

    Should be noted one new feature mentioned (new to me anyways) is you can mute people if they annoy you...

  9. I didn't mean to rant or anything, and I empathise with all of you who look forward to online and have to read this shit, but I guess my point is that I don't think either MS or Sony (or Sega two years ago) have any idea what to do with online. From either a gaming or a business standpoint. And that generally means that everyone loses money and no one has a good time. Throwing a franchise online for the sake of having some online games isn't the answer. Taking PC games and slapping console franchises isn't either.

    Hey Sony (and Microsoft) - when it comes to online...u r n o t e
