ANother RE2 update !
From DarkHorizons:
"Resident Evil 2: Hopefully this news will keep those over-eager beavers quiet. FilmJerk reports that the casting process has begun in anticipation of a three-month shoot beginning in late July which would put the film on course for a mid-2004 release. A trio of new characters from the video game will be joining Milla Jovovich and Eric Mabius on-screen (incl. Jill Valentine), whilst the character of Addison (who was infected with the virus that causes humans to develop into zombies) will be the villain of the piece. Here's the official synopsis: "Bruised, bloodied and disoritented is how we left Alice in the final moments of “Resident Evil.” Emerging from an Umbrella Corporation research lab into an apocalyptic Raccoon City, Alice surveys the tattered vision before her, where the walking zombies known as the Undead have taken over. As the camera rises to fully show the devastation, Alice picks up a shotgun and prepares to fight evil yet again. Where the first ends, the second installment begins, as “Resident Evil- Apocalypse” readies for production". Thanks to 'Chris'."

It's weird, though, how studios treat gore in certain films. Resident Evil didn't even have half the gore as Final Destination 2, and both movies were rated R. The Friday the 13th movies are treated the same way, I've seen way gorier films released but for some reason the censors go after Jason instead. I don't get it.

I really liked Eric Mabius's character, so I'm wondering how long he'll have until he mutates into Nemesis...
Hopefully this movie will have a slower pace. I can't stand kinetic zombie flicks; doesn't let you soak in the wonderful sights of zombie hordes.
I hear ya man. Jason just has a bad rap. I just recently saw Final Destination 2 and the gore content was pretty damn high. A lot of *similar* shit happens in Friday movies and it gets edited to mere seconds of any suggestion of gore. The car crash in FD2 was fucking nuts.Originally posted by Dolemite

I'm interested to see how Jason vs Freddy does against the MPAA. Hope we get to see some good shit. I really want to see RE unedited too. If they made cuts like some people say they did, it'll make the picture that much stronger. I REALLY want to see Undead as well. I hear there is some good gore in that as well. Maybe if it's an Aussie picture the MPAA will let it skate through.
Where's the Redfields? I didn't much like the first one, but I'll hope good things for the second.

I really hope this movie doesn't suck. I'de like to see it quite a bit.
Heh, reading through this I thought it was a new thread then saw my post and thought "What the hell?"... *sigh* I should pay more attention.
I'm looking forward to it... the original was quite good...
The first time I saw the original, I thought it was pretty good. Then I watched it again and couldn't stand it. I think the main reason I couldn't stand it was becuase I remember many years ago reading abou how the script was going to follow the story line of the game and I really looked forward to that. I creamed my pants at the thought of seeing Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine on the big screen. Imagine my disapointment when the movie had pretty much nothing in common with the game. But I guess it's somewhat my fault for not reading about how the script was changed. I loved the story in the game and would not have cared if I already knoew how it ended, I still think that would have been a million times better then what it turned out to be.
Also its going to be strange to see the movie mixed with characters from the game and characters from the first movie. I'll still see it, but I'm not expecting much and I'll rent the uncut DVD when that comes out and see if it will change my mind.
I liked the first movie, but I too would have preferred it to have mirrored the story, setting and characters of the first game as well.
