Hmmm...I thought DVHS had a lot of potential...it's too bad that this format will eventually come out on top (if you can call it that). I just don't think that HD-DVD's will get enough market saturation to really be popular though it may still be profitable. Too people have complained about HDTV and the DVD switch...it is too soon to see any sort of format change for at least 5-7 years. It will be a niche format like SACD that movie buffs will buy into (which is fine since I will probably buy into it).


I think this will definitely up the marketability of HDTV's, in addition to broadcast HDTV programming. Unfortunately, market penetration will definitely take a few years, since the prices will most likely be real expensive from the get-go. HD-VHS players are still in the $1000+ range.
