Suikoden
I had my Playstation for a few months and wanted to pick up an rpg. I had no idea what the game was all about, just knew it was an rpg from looking at the back cover of the case. Went on to beating the game about 5 times.
Vandal Hearts looked really interesting, and I picked it up. I'd never played a SRPG before and it knocked me on my ass. One of my favorite games ever.
Azure Dreams was a nice suprise also.
Damn, did I love that game. Next to Vandal Hearts it's the best SRPG I've ever played. A good battle system, nice character designs, interesting battle scenarios, and a cool branching storyline that actually made me want to play through it a second time just to take another path. And it cracked me up to boot.Originally Posted by Josh

I never expected to love Karaoke Revolution the way I do. I only tried it out because my girlfriend was crazy about it (she is actually a good singer who took lessons earlier in life)... after the initial embarrassment I became hopelessly addicted. So much so that yesterday she came home to find me belting out Cher's Believe on the standalone logitech microphone (not headset) I purchased separately just for KR.![]()

2.Me playing the demo and discovering that the game is totally amazing and that I need to buy it on release
2a.Around this time previews were starting to float around and as we all know if a preview says a game is good, it must be
3.Sly Cooper Reviews
4.Game is released to the public
5.People on messageboards post how much that they like the game (and I was one of them)
5a.You win
I suppose I was supprised by the Suikoden series. I had never been interested in it, and when I finally played my first one (3), I had to hunt down and find the other two (which was much easier than you could imagine).
Also, Chronicles of Riddick is worth mentioning. I was geared up for it before I played the demo, and after I played the demo I didn't give a hairy damn. So, after hearing all the noise made on the forum about it, I tried the full game and I love it.

Mark of Kri 2 + Sly Cooper 2 > Ratchet and Clank 3 + Jak & Daxter 3
Though I am really excited about Jak 3, I feel Ratchet & Clank is just going to be more of the same, and though that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just too much too soon. Had they waited another year to release it, and actually given me time to forget R&C2 and crave that delecious gameplay once again, it might have been different. As it is, I could really give a damn. Oh, I'll play it alright, but I forsee great boredom.
Jak 3 is looking good, but it doesn't dare compare to The Mark of Kri or Sly Cooper. Never did, really.
