Thread: Arcades in your area?

  1. 3 minutes away from me there's a small arcade.. pretty much the only one i know of in my area..
    they have MvC2 and Tekken 4 on big screens, but those are sadly the only real attractions..

    for some reason, they waste sooooo much space with shitty outdated golf and baseball games, etc.. older games that no one's ever cared about, those damn ticket-dispensing games, etc..

    i feel like they're about to go out of business.. they've been around forever, but i think if they had money they'd buy a DDR machine, since they always attract crowds.. and yet the whole place remains crusty and unchanged for years..
    really sad..
    MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  2. I live by a town with about 10 arcades, nothing really special except for one that has both Smashing Drive and Atv Track. There's also the one arcade I used to work at that has several old school games like Defender and Sinistar, they set up all the games inside this huge room, added black lights, and pump 80's music at full blast.

    It's um...rad.


    Ever since DDR hit it big, I've had very little desire to go into an arcade.

    -Beatmania IIDX 5th Style (Soon to be 7th or 8th)
    -Guitar Freaks 7th Mix
    -DrumMania 6th Mix
    -Capcom VS SNK 2
    -Street Fighter Alpha 3
    -KeyboardMania 3rd Mix
    -Metal Slug 4
    -Waku Waku 7
    -King of the Fighters 2000
    -Ultracade (With every new game pack so far. Gunsmoke! Root beer tapper!)
    -Mr Driller 2
    -NBA Showtime
    -Cannon Spike
    -Gunbird 2
    -DDRMax2
    -Pump It Up Premire 2
    -4 player War (Think Quake)
    -6 Player The Grid (I hate this game..I really do, but we play it when we're bored. It can be fun though, even though it takes no skill)

    And theres lotsa other good stuff that I can't think of right now >< I <3 my arcade

  5. Oh yeah, there's another arcade in the Temecula Mall, only good game I remember them having is Ninja Assault and maybe one more, like Zombie Revenge, IIRC

  6. Local arcades????? What is this foreign concept? Well we do have a MVS cabinet and a FV2 cabinet in our store... does that count?

    Go to Willowbrook, they have it (as well as Planet Harrier's, and some decent *newer* Pinball tables... and that's about it for me)

    In The Swing is the local joint. Family owned which makes most of it's money from the batting cages. They get quite a few parties there which helps a good deal. I remember when some guy rented the arcade out for his 40th birthday. Closed the place like 2 hours early and everything. No idea what it cost him, but it's a pretty small place. 2 pinball machines, 3 skee ball, and probably 30 or so cabs (some that give tickets, like wack-a-mole type). They have an air hockey unit, crazy taxi, MvS2, NFL blitz 2000, House of the Dead, Crisis Zone, Jurassic Park (sit down shooter, the sub on that thing is great). Nothing too outstanding, it's been awhile since it's seen any gems (that was the place to go around the MKII/KI days).
    Very true, that place used to be THE arcade to go to around here (ever since Sportsworld though...). I was there earlier tonight actually, they have a Point Blank 2 cab and Gimme-a-Break (trackball pool game), and a few other classics like TMNT: Turtles in Time, Sunset Riders, Chase HQ (bleh...), and Paperboy as well

    Then there is sports world which you need to spend 10 bucks to do anything worthwhile. Place is really big, not uncommon to see 3 or 4 of the same cab sitting next to each other. About 12 pinball machines, a mini-golf, mini-bowling, laser tag, bumper cars...
    And probably THE WORST maintained arcade I've ever been to as well; shitty monitors, barely-never-ever fixed controls, and all of their pinball tables have some major problems (who needs the flippers to actually work!). Considering the place brings in a good amount of people, you'd think for a second they would put some money into that... Nope, but hey, thanks for the Ultracade machine (which blows IMHO and costs a buck to play). The arcade's at the shore are better maintained than this hole!

  9. The closest arcade near me is 20 minutes away on Downtown Crossing In Boston. I was there about 2 weeks ago and the biggest attration was KOF2000. Actually there are a few more near the beach but their games are mostly like Pong and still running to this day.

    Wait a minute! I've heard of "GoodTimes". Any of the Boston people here, can you help with the location of this place?
