Thread: Arcades in your area?

  1. Here in Dallas we have Gameworks, which has a section of old classics from the 80's and of course all the latest Sega arcade games. 2 Dave and Busters: I have'nt went to them in years.

At the Valley Veiw Mall they have a decent little arcade with games like MVC2, Street Fighter 3 and a few pinball machines. Then there is a Japanese import store, with Japanese versions of Mark of the Wolves, Tekken 4, and about 10 other arcade units.

I really have'nt gone to the arcades much, in the past couple of years. I'll drop by now and then to play a round, but that's about it.

  2. I also live nearby "the break" that Tragic Hero has detailed.

    *also gives sl1p the finger*

Either way, the break isn't a bad place at all. They have very frequent updates which is something that many arcades fall short with. Furthermore, they are the obvious music game headquarters in the area
    Currently Playing:
    - Metroid Prime
    - GTA: Vice
    - Miss World '96 Nude

  3. My house beats just about every arcade in the area. What me and Technosphile and Master need to do is cruise out to Issaquah in order to peep Illusions for Master's going away party. That is where the most up to date Vo:OT cab is and a whole hell of a lot of other good stuff. Or so rumor has it. Gametown does rock. Any place in the world that has Cosmo Gang The Video for me to play absolutely fucking rules. Not to mention that they also have The Outfoxies, Parodius and Truxton 2. The other one Tech mentioned is off the fucking hinges my friends. Nickels. All I need mention is one game: Cowboys of Moo Mesa. Nuff said.

Oh and Technosphile, who wears the Real Bout Special Heavyweight Championship Belt now baaatch? ;op

  4. Pa, you need to show me some of these places sometime (although your place is great too...where else would I be able to see Storm of Progear? Not at Gameworks, no sir).

  5. Well Kaneda, it looks as though Master's extravaganza will be moved up to Thursday instead of Friday. If you're going to be in town please give me a call(I have just like always lost your number again). Illusions in Issaquah is the target destination and neither you nor I lives far from Gametown which is SO much nicer than I thought it would be that I almost had to chuckle with glee when I walked in.

  6. I'm rising this fucker up.

This post may double as an ad for an arcade on Long Island. Now, pay attention.
TriCounty Flea Market in Levittown New York has a hell of a staff. These guys pay attention to what people like. I remember when the ol' Fun Station started off with a DDR Extreme and a few random other machines.
    Then came Planet Harrier.
Unfortunately it's gone now, but he tends to get in odd stuff from time to time.
Anyhoosit, here' s what's there, off the top of my head:
    Two DDR Extremes
    DDR 4th Plus
    DDR Max 2
    Guilty Gear XX
    Capcom Vs. SNK 2
    Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
    Tekken 4
One of those Sammy hunting games
    Metal Slug 4
    Outrun
    Galaga
    Brave FireFighters
    Site 4
    Steel Gunner 2
    Crystal Caves
    2 MAME machines (one's a Supergun!)
    Super Hang On
    Sega Bass Fishing
    Die Hard Arcade
...and a couple more that I can't think of...
But, this is the guy I have previously mentioned that is getting a Beatmania IIDX 9th Style (back, haters! It may be ridiculously buggy, but it'll exist!) and now says is also getting the latest PIU. He has some more plans of other stuff if those do well. All the machines are in great condition, too, though a lot of them look to be custom-made and not original cabinets (exceptions being DDRs, fishing, firefighters, and Super Hang-On). Only problem is his hours, which are the same as the flea market's. Only 4 days a week, too. I'm there all the time, but if anyone else is in the area, support these guys! They friggin' deserve it.

    Their site.
Holy shit, there's a picture of my back on there.

  7. One on ST-Catherine's downtown. I like it alot, well compared to alot of the crap arcades I've seen. This place even has 2 of a kind FZERO AX machines, couple DDR pads, Guilty Gear and CvsSNK2 machines. I love it

The arcade in my kitchen is pretty hot.

    Karnov
    Heavy Barrel
    PSX retail demo unit
Street Fighter III (currently not working)
    Two Dreamcast Retail Demo units
Space Invaders (on loan to a friend)
Sitdown Cab with a Dreamcast in it (relocated to my bands practice spot/recording studio)

  9. I really need to get down to University Pinball one of these days...

Where is this place? I live about 10 minutes or less from Downtown Crossing... I walked up to Borders tonight, and have often wondered where this arcade is. I don't explore much there, just do what I have to do then head back home.
Wait a minute! I've heard of "GoodTimes". Any of the Boston people here, can you help with the location of this place?
A friend of mine likes that place a lot and goes there frequently, but I've never been there yet. Once I know myself I'll let you know where exactly it is. I'm just a little unsure how to get there by the T/walking/bus/whatever it takes.

The MIT arcade is pretty nice, and not at all hard to find. Two DDR machines (4th and Extreme), GGXX, SF3 3rd Strike, CvS2... it's nothing amazing but it beats nothing at all.
