Thread: My thoughts on XXX

  1. My thoughts on XXX

Well, We seen it today and the movie was great Cool mix of action, great stunts, cool gadgets and badass attitude

Vin Diesel was cool as XXX, he handled action scenes well, and had a good screen presence. Bad guys were ok, but I'm kinda tired seeing Russians being a usual choice for bad guys these days. Yorgy was ok villian, and Samuel Jackson was cool as XXX boss, who liked to test him

Was cool to see Danny Trejo pop up as Mexican, or Columbian drug lord

Action scenes were filmed very well, awesome bike stunts, and exciting snowboarding sequence. Also I like the part when XXX evaded sniper with foodtray from the restaurant. THere were also some gunfights, but not much, but done very well, especially for PG13 film. I was afraid the film will shy away from that kind of action, but alas it delivered.

It was definately better than last couple of 007 films, and I'm looking forward it to become a franchise.

P.S Did anyone else saw the trailer for Ballistic: Eks VS Sever?

Now that movie looked BAD ASS !!! I was excited about it before I seen the trailer, and now I even more That, The Transporter and Tuxedo, makes a great September at the movies for me

I agree. I didn't like any of the last few Bond movies. I don't like Pierce as Bond. XXX was action packed. Fun popcorn movie. If you were expecting a masterpiece then you'll be disappointed. I didn't really want to see it but my friend insisted that we see the first showing of it at midnight. I went and expected a pile of shit but in fact it was very entertaining. And I was glad to see Asia Argento getting a big part in the movie.

    Later all...

Did ya guys catch the line "Think playstation blow stuff up" and the how Xander learned to shoot playing Shooters. Funny.

    Spoilers****************************************************

Yorgi's death scene was weak IMO, I was expecting a fight or better action sequence for that. Ok his boat crashes. Well I gas the real finish was the diffusing of the bio-weapons.

Great scene "Fire in the hole" Motorcycle falls from the air or Xander shooting in midair and the kick from the bike.

That chick dancing on the bed-post was pretty funny too. "The things I'm gonna do for my country"

What did ya think bout Tony Hawk's little role or Rappers Eve part?

Now that Xander is established they can jump right into the sequel.

    Heat seeking missle great stuff.

  4. I also thought that Prague locations and scenery was beatiful. Its a trend this year to shoot films in Prague(Blade 2, Bad Company, XXX).

Yeah, I would have loved better last showdown with Yorgi, as Korian said more in shootout, or a fight, but it was ok. It would be also nice to see more use of the car, after it got upgraded.

The funny thing was, most of the lines bad guys spoke in Russian werent translated, so we were the only people in audience who could actually understand them. Also one line was badly translated : Yorgi said: Cut him - But English subs said - I will see him

  5. Was the spoken Russian actual lines, or just jibberish?

  6. Most of the lines were actual Russian dialog, which was cool, only few instances of gibberish. Too bad none of the actors saying those were russian, so the words came out sounding pretty not that good, and funny

I haven't seen it yet, but I thought the title

    Ballistic: Eks VS Sever
Was quite funny, since it consists of two not-very-popular game titles of the last year or two; Ballistic (NUON) and Ecks vs. Sever (GBA).

    ...Or is this game-related?

  8. Well, this movie, as expected, sucked.

Only 3 things saved it from being complete and utter shit:

    1. I've been playing a lot of Stuntman on PS2, and can appreciate some of the action.

    2. One of the opera songs from GTA3 was in it.

and the most important of all:

    3. Both Tony Hawk and Matt Hoffman, along with several of their pals were in it for no apparrent reason.

And I don't know about you, but I cringed whenever Vin Diesel mentioned anything having to do with video games.

Yeah, they made me feel that way too. And I am not sure why. I mean, this is what I kind of want, this guy is fucking defending video games...but I guess it kind of didnt seem sincere enough, and first person shooter just doesnt sound cool enough when spoken???

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie though. The action ranged from decent to excellent, and the acting was decent throughout. I really like Vin Diesel, but if you dont like him I can see why you would not like it, but then again I dont understand why anybody who doesnt like him would go and see the movie.

  10. Heh, I only went because my cousin has been nagging me to go with him for the last five months.
