Thread: best version of Final Fight!

  1. best version of Final Fight!

of all the types we have, I narrowed it down to either the arcade or sega CD for this game. On one hand (arcade), we have the original material with pretty graphics and no loading. On the other hand (segaCD) the graphics do suffer a bit in the color and resolution detail, but the music more then makes up for the game as it rounds out the feel of the fights from level to level in fine fashion.

Personally, I like what sega has because while there is load time, at home it's a small break plus while not everything is exactly as detailed, I think it takes away from the MACHO-BUFF image a bit and kinda tones the look of the characters in a better mannor. (when you look at guy between the two, then look at guy in SFA, it's kinda different to compare) and as for that music, well stage 3 has a good dance tone that I never get tired from so I'll likely stick with that.
don't wanna tangle with you, I'd rather tangle with him.
I think I'm gonna bash his head in...

  2. The MEGA CD version is the best home port, IMO, its the most faithful, in addition to being uncensored unlike the US Sega CD version which was. Far and away the best home port.
    omg TNL epics!

  3. your MJ sig is making me dizzy...

  4. I'd choose arcade, of course. The drab looking colours of the Sega CD version really took away from the Final Fight experience for me. Nothing beats the original arcade version.

  5. I like the remixed Sega CD music, but arcade almost always wins, unless there are some substantial home additions.

The censoring and color problems are really being blown out of proportion here. This isn't the SNES version we're talking about.

I don't think the colour problems are being blown out of proportion at all. They were pretty bad. It was the first thing I noticed when I bought it, and it bothered me everytime I played it. It really takes away from the overall experience. But of course, that's just my own opinion on it.

  7. Sega CD has better coloring than the SNES version?

  8. No, the Sega CD version is near perfect. If you want to bitch about arcade to console port differences, there's the SNES version, hence comment.

  9. Maybe better music, but no way it had better colouring.

  10. Yeah, it was night and day. It ruined the game for me too. When I compared the SNES version and Sega CD version back-to-back, I was like "Holy shit! While the SNES version is shitted on in every other category, it has an extra shade of fuchsia on Andore's pants!" Woo.
