Best D-Pad Ever, Saturn or Xbox controller?

Just for the record, the two controllers that will battle for "Best D-Pad Ever" will be the Sega Saturn controller MK-80116 (also known as 'NOT the crappy US controller') and the Microsoft Xbox Controller Type S (US version).

I have'nt really messed around with the X-Box D-pad, so I have no opinion of it. The Saturn D-Pad is one of the best, but I used the Saturn Arcade stick for fighters and shooters instead.


What I'd like to know, is why did'nt Sega us the design of the Nights 3-D controller, for use on the DC? That controller fit the bill perfectly.

The Saturn's pad was less stiff...but then again, I don't think I have used the Xbox dpad for anything other than navigating options menus...so, no vote from me. Sorry.

I voted Saturn, mainly because I've never used an Xbox Type S controller. In all honesty, I think both US Saturn controller models' D-pads are just fine. It's the horrible anti-ergonomic shape of the original style pad that makes it hard to play with.

How about I start a "worst D-pad" poll? I already know what would be my first pick... *glares at his Turbo Duo*

I'd put a vote in for one of the Sidewinders for worse d-pad. If I'm remembering correctly, it was the very first Sidewinder to support USB. Man, what a bad d-pad!

Well, I need a good Capcom fighter to really test out how well the S-controller's d-pad is. It certainly feels nice, though is stiff from non-use.
