Hrm... it would be more helpful to me anyway if you mentioned which stage you're talking about, as the titles are in English... I'm pretty sure you're talking about The Wild Wind... unless you unlocked the third stage of the Haru/Spring levels.Originally posted by Johnny
I'm only like half an hour in the game, and I've only completed one level. I was able to make it to the end of another level with the three bells, but couldn't reach any sort of boss. I've tried talking to people at the hub, and I've collected a bunch of crap from treasure chests, but I still can't advance. Not knowing a lick of Japanese has me at a stall, and so I come here for help.
Unfortunately, I don't have everything memorized but you can use Alan Kwan's FAQ. The GameFAQs one absolutely blows.

I think with this you should be able to go through the game with ease, aside from maybe fulfilling all the subquests (there are tons).
Sure. Basically it's for paffet creation. Paffets are the little creatures you create. Some you will need to create to advance plot. Some you will need to create to fulfill subquests. Some are optional helpers that do a variety of effects, from attacking enemies for you, healing Arisia Poach, to giving you score multipliers. And still there are some that are pretty critical to the game, such as the one that tranforms into a trampoline, allowing you to access parts of levels you previously could not.Okay first, what's up with the hidden items? Like you'll pick up a teddy bear or something, and find all these little objects on them. I've discovered everything on the stuff I was carrying, although a few things remain for some reason. I've got this little arrow menu when I select them too (+1 -1 +10 -10). I know you have to combine things a certain way, but I don't know any combinations. Could someone explain this whole part of the game?
Now, in order to make paffets, you need recipes (レシピ). You will get these from treasure chests and from people around the world. A recipe allows you to know what 4 ingredients you need to make a paffet. Well... then that begs the question... where do you get ingredients? The ingredients are found in the items you receive. See, there are like 50 or so ingredients in the game and to get them, you must extract them from the items that enemies drop, by examining the items through 3 different filters. Eventually you will want to find all the ingredients within the items because once you do, you don't have to do it again.
That's what the +1, -1, +10, -10 menu is for. Once you found all the ingredients in a Teddy Bear, if you have like another 12 teddy bears in your possession, you don't examine it 12 more times. You can simply just convert 1 (or 2 or 7 or 12, etc) to their ingredients by adding 1 (+1) or however many you want.
I believe every item you receive from enemies is unique to their own stages. So if you only have like 1 teddy bear, then you must go back to the stage you initially found it for more.
The game is built on the principle that you will visit and revisit the stages a lot, and I find it pretty enjoyable nevertheless. The scoring combo system is neat, although unfortunately you won't know about it unless you look at your VMU screen during play.
Yes and no. Generally, you do follow the 春、夏、秋、冬 (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) order because of the way the game is set up. But there are times were you can not access the 3rd stage within a season yet, and need to go onto the next season, going back to the previous season later.Do I have to complete each season one after the other, or do I have a choice? So far I've been able to enter autumn and summer, but have been stopped early on in the fisrt stages. I can't even reach winter.
Hub? ?_? What's the hub? And yes, conversations are key to advancing the plot and subplots.Just how much importance does the hub play? Do I need to talk with plenty of people to move the game forward or what?
It's Kanno Youko. 'nuff said. Why is the soundtrack so damn amazing?
