They overdid it with the pixelly explosions. Even the little bats exploded into gigantic fireballs. WTF?

  2. A decent side-scrolling action game, not one of Wolfteam's best efforts, but a decent game nonetheless with some nice anime cutscenes.

Anet Again (Anet Futubai in Japan) for the Mega CD was a much more polished and better sequel. Z-Roe, if you dug the game, and have either a Mega CD or a Sega CD w/ a CD-X on hand, I suggest tracking the game down, its worth it.
    omg TNL epics!

What is Wolfteam's best effort IYO?

  4. Well i for one LOVE and have ALWAYS loved El Viento from the first moment I played it years ago...to me, it's just one of the best, classic Genesis action titles. The intro cut scenes had my jaw wide open, the game is standard, fun, speedy action fare, and I LOVE those legendary "El Viento Explosions"...I couldn't get enough of those fiery pixels back in the day. The dolphin level is insane coolness, this was back when pixels were the SHIT! To me. :P Man, I can't believe some of you guys don't just totally love this game. =) I heard the sequel was actually worse though...? And I've also heard Earnest Evans is ass...but if I like El Viento, won't I maybe like them? Man I tell ya, Wolfteam can do no wrong. ::sniff:: I wish they were with us today, but at least I have their Sol Feace soundtrack to get me by.

  5. Earnest Evans is a steaming bag of ass better left untouched. I wouldn't wish that game on the biggest sheeple casual gamer, and that's saying alot considering how much I hate casual gamers.

  6. El Viento is not a bad game, but it is a tad too easy. While renting it soon after release, I got more than midway through on my first credit and then got damn close to the end of the game before using my last continue.

I did pass on it, but gave it another shot when I got the Sega Channel. That time, I beat it quickly.

It has an intro to die for, and the cinema scenes rock. The BGM is really good.

If I had to pick GCS-WT's best effort, it would be Granada (ported from X68000 as with Thunder Force II).

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  7. Earnest Evans was a tech demo from hell, ohhhh pretty and useless rotation....

El Viento seemed decent enough, I still get a chuckle out of the tiny gangster cars, apparently the mob employs circus clowns? *-neo

  10. I kinda liked it. But it came out at a time when the Genesis was going through a very dry spell.

Oddly, I also got Master of Monsters the same week. One of the best strategy games I ever played.
