Thread: G4- Who gets it and what do you think?

  1. Almost makes me wish I still lived with my dad in Arlington, VA. Comcast Cable is *sure* to carry it, since they're the ones who funded the project in the first place.

  2. I don't have G4 but my friend does and we watch it all the time. I like the channel and it should be pretty big eventually. Here are my thoughts on the channel.

The show I watch the most is "Players" which is G4's version of MTV cribs basically. They have famous people show off their gaming rooms and such. They had an episode with Asia Carrera and she basically dominated in Unreal Tournament. Shes a computer geek who does porn for a living

They have another show which the name escapes me right now that shows scenes from games. They showed about 5 minutes of the new Contra game and it looks to be sweet!

The commercials are great. They have one with cheerleaders cheering out fighting moves which is just great. Another one has these two guys, one is doing a music beat and the other one is acting like Eddy Gordo (what makes it funny is that the guy is big white guy).

I Anyone see the players with Coolio on it?

He is a bigger dork than any of us could ever hope to be.

    Awsome.

  4. God damnit! I want this damn channel. It took like 80 years(not quite) for Cablevision in my area to get the damn E! network. Fuck, the channel will be dead and burried before I ever see it.

I watch it a lot at my friends house and it is pretty cool.
Shows I like: Cinematech, Filter, Starcade, Judgement Day, Arena.

The coolest thing they've ever done though is where they had Billy Mitchell and he was the judge for a real life game of Pac-man.

Another good point about the channel- They have lots of hot female hosts for the shows.

  6. I can confirm that I will never see this channel. Damnit.

  7. Some more details on other shows on G4 not mentioned or barely touched upon:

Arena= A show where two hosts narrate as two teams play various multiplayer games (deathmatch, capture the flag, etc). The show is divided up into points that each team is vying for. The most common games played are UT, Counter Strike, Mechwarrior 4 and DOA3. Watchable but why?

Portal = Show dedicated MMORGs. Pitiful and quite insulting to watch. One host (dork) talking to either the camera or some lame HAL wannabe computer. Shite.

Cinematech = Show that shows 100% game footage, whether it be CG, real-time cinematics, or gameplay (with no host). Not bad but has a tendency to show games more than once in the same line up. Doesn't show enough new games and hardly ever shows games not out yet which is a shame do to all the trailers released on the web prior to a game's release.

Blister = Show hosted by some guy who thinks he's cool but is rather annoying. It's dedicated to the "action" genre which is rather broad but the coverage is good and there's usually something worth watching it for.

Game On = Game show of sorts. It's REALLY bad and the two hosts try to be funny and cool but fail miserably at it. Not enough game playing/footage and too much yapping.

Filter = I must mention that even though the host is pretty hot, the show itself beyond sucks. It should be called "Filler" cuz that's what it is.

Just thought I'd add some additional info and my .02

Overall, G4 is off to a good start but there's definitely room for improvement.

  8. G4 indeed rocks! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to get it. It's been great so far, and I've even got my wife watching it now as well!

I make sure to catch Pulse, Players, Starcade and Icons, but almost everything's more than watchable IMO. I hope it gets rave reviews from the community.
current gaming fix: Capcom vs SNK 2, SFIII Third Strike, Maximo, Sky Gunner, Zero Gunner 2, Radiant Silvergun, Blood Omen 2 LOK.

  9. I have Cablevision, and the only way to get this channel is to get Digital Cable, but I don't want to spend an extra $70 or whatever just to watch this channel. They even moved TechTV over to Digital Cable, so I haven't seen Extended Play in over a year.

    Bastards.

  10. Once they start showing reruns of Nick Arcade and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show- I'm sold.

    or not.
