Thread: Pluto Nash - My own thoughts

  1. Pluto Nash - My own thoughts

Well, Sometimes films have a bad luck. Like the film I'm about to talk. It was originally supposed to be released summer of 2001, but some problems, and studio worries, forced the producers to put it on ths shelf. Next date was set to be spring of 2002, but again, it didnt work out, so finally it landed as August 2002 release. By the time of the launch day, film gathered quite a deal of bad publicity, Eddie Murphy didnt do any promotions of it, and it wasnt even showned to critics. Usually all signs of Terrible film.

But not in this case. I(and my family), found Pluto Nash to be very entertaining film. Bad since no one decided to take a risk, it also became a biggest flop of 2002. But lets talks about the movie.

Eddie Murphy plays Pluto Nash, ex-con/smuggler living in the Moon City. He has a life long dream of opening the Night club, and after doing time, he comes out, and takes over a crappy bar, owned by Jay Mohr, who is neck deep in financial troubles with the mob. Pluto takes over, and in 7 years, its the BEST night club on the Moon. He is happy, and enjoys his life, when a powerful mob boss decides to buy out the club. Nash doents want to do that, and that leads to attemp to kill him with Bomb that destroys his club, and he becomes, th #1 bounty for all of the Moon criminals. With the help of out of job singer girl and his trusty Robot bodyguar Bruno, Nash not need to evade the killers, and find the one person behind, and make them pay

The film direction and temp is very good. I was REALLY surprised by the its quality. The jokes were funny, and not forced(like in certain MIB2 movie). And it was REALLY action packed. Lots of neat gun fights, and other action sequences. Ron Underwood(who also directed Tremors) did an excellent job on this film.

Eddie Murphy was very good as Nash. He was likable, funny, and it was very good performance. Rosario Dawson(strangely also in MIB2) was also decent as Dina, the singer sidekick/love interest. SHe was very cute too And how can I not say a word about Randy Quade as Bruno, the robot bodyguard. He was excellent, with his Happines CHip Grin always on his face, really wierd voice, and some funny dialog. He was one of the highlights of the film, it was great to see him fire 2 big ass guns, and smile at the same time It also had many cameous of stars like Alec Baldwin and John Kleise, and those were pretty good too.

The film was action packed, lots of neat gunfights, very cool fight in almost 0 gravity, and great moon car chase. Those scenes kept me very excited for the duration of it.

Special FX were excellent. From the whole image of Moon city, with all the glamour, neon boards, flying cars, to the Moon chase sequence, and Air Decompression. And small touches like Bruno robot effect(retractable recherge cord) were neat.

I was surprised to say that Pluto Nash is one of the best films, I seen this summer, and definately a very enjoyable one. Too bad , no one else thinks that. The theater we saw it had only 2 other people, and it really makes me sad. When CRAP like MIB2 makes millions, and nothing other than a rehash of the original, but was HYPED out of the ASS, and here is much nicer and funnier film, with better story, action and FX, and no one cares

But I Reccomend this film to you guys. Give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised I know I was

Well Despair cool you enjoyed it. I thought it had it's moments including some surprises but Eddie Murphy was so embarrased about this film he decided not to promote it.

I-Spy looks to be a much better Eddie flick.

It looks to be a fun movie as long as you come in with realistic expectations.

  4. It is. It doesnt pretend to be anothing, other than just simple fun movie.

I havent seen I Spy trailer yet, Korian, but I enjoed Murphy in the Pluto Nash. He was funny, wasnt annoying like Will Smith in MIB2, and his jokes didnt feel forced. I wonder why is he so ashamed of this film??? It was much better than Showtime for example.
