  1. People that are strong but dont look it?

    Something I've been wondering about and wanted to ask the wise members of TNL Forum is how come some ppl are really strong but dont look it? For example I arm restled this dude in english last year and he totally whooped me no contest yet he was much skinnier then I. And there are other people I know that are just as strong as some people that look much stronger then the said person. How is this? Just wondering and thought maybe someone knew.


  2. Well, I do not know much about that. I can say that I am weaker than I look - heh. I am trying to change that however.

    Yes, tendon strength can be part of it. I've also noticed that muscle mass doesn't neccesarily mean strength. I've heard many pro athletes train differently depending on if they are tring to gain size, weight, strength, etc.

    Also, your body was designed to be a certain way, if you are made small, you will be small. If you are made large, you will be large. However, in my experience there is no practical limits to what you can achieve. A good example is one of my best buds, Phillip. He is 130 pounds, and I am 200. I outweigh him by 70 pounds, and my muscles are noticably larger, even though I don't work out nearly as much as he does. There is no contest though, in strength, he KILLS me. Every time, in almost every way. But his body was not made to be more than 130 pounds, where if I got serious I could probably be around 230 lbs of muscle and maybe... maybe be a tad stronger than him.

    You don't need to be bulky to be strong. In fact it's a bit easier to get stronger then it is to get your muscles bigger. Only in the long run you have to get bigger to get really strong.

    Though I can't bench or lift much weight anymore, i can have quite surprising strength.

  7. endurance and stamina are important too. one time i was arm wrestlin' this guy....i thought i'd loose like....emediately, but he gave it his all....i wouldn't go down, then his ass got tired an' i won. same thing with fights....well, not really 'cause i fight dirty....i punch people in the neck, ears and underarms.

  10. so how do you gain tendon strength or work out tendons, or how do you train for strength instead of size. Im 130 lbs right now, a little more growing to go but ive been wanting to up my strength now instead of mass.
