Have you played it? It's so called "extreme" content is extremely tame by todays standards, with games like GTA3 and (supposedly) The Getaway and these like that.

I can't even think of anything in that game that is exactly hyper-violent. The only thing any worse than a Mortal Kombat would be the character design, since you can use a gimp, an S&M chick, and a midget. BUt really, is that any worse than the other stuff out there?

The thing that makes Thrill Kill cool is that it's the ONLY 4 player fighter that ever got it right. Wu-Tang (which was based on the Thrill Kill engine) and to a lesser extent ('cause of the need to have those crystals) Power Stone 2 fucked up the concept because of a gigantic fundamental flaw : a life bar.

The idea in Thrill Kill is that you have a "Thrill Bar" (or whatever it's called). Every time you hit someone, it fills itself up. The first person that fills it up, goes into kill mode. Then, all the other players run like mad to avoid him, cause if they can get away for like, 10 seconds, he loses his kill. If he does however kill you, it's down to 3 players and on to the next round. Whomever got the kill also gets a little bit of their kill meter filled for the next round, which usually leads to the other 2 players double teaming him. Once it's down to one on one the winner gets to esecute a "Thrill Kill" which is a much cooler fatality. Unfortunately, none of them were particularly as "gruesome" as the media would have had you believe.

The emphasis in Thrill Kill is to go out there and juggle the shit out of everybody, and in Wu Tang the best strategy was simply to hide in the corner until everyone else was weak and then come finish them off. Same with Power Stone 2 (to a much lesser extent).

So, why is this game being banned from the list?
Yeah Korly. I played Thril Kill back in the day, at GenCon, and it was a great fun in multiplayer. Sure it wasnt best in graphics, but the fun characters - Midget in Devil Suit on Stilts !! or Cannibal Hillbilly !!! were fun And battles were heated, and my, how would you run after someone gets a Kill chance, and wants to get YOU !! It was great MULTIPLAYER(especially 4 people) fun, and too bad it never got released.

  4. Dolemite's turn, mah bruthas. I tried my best, I can't just limit my list to just 10 games. It's gotta be a top 20 list. Sorry...

    In no particular order:

    1.- Vandal Hearts
    2.- Resident Evil series
    3.- Silent Hill
4.- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
    5.- Tenchu: Stealth Assassins
6.- Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
    7.- Strider 1 & 2
8.- The Misadventures of Tron Bonne
    9.- Mega Man 8
    10.- Wipeout XL
    11.- Skullmonkeys
    12.- Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
    13.- Street Fighter Collection
    14.- Thousand Arms
    15.- Final Fantasy Tatics
    16.- Azure Dreams
    17.- Medal of Honor
    18.- Spiderman
    19.- Einhander
    20.- Metal Slug X

As for the whole Thrill Kill debate, I've played it, it was decent (at best), and the 4 player mode was pretty amusing. The so-called "graphic" content is almost laughable by today's standards. It certainly didn't deserve to be "banned" or not released. I gotta agree with the post above that says compared to the content in games like GTA3, Thrill Kill doesn't seem all that bad. Knocking someone's head off is nothing compared to a game where you can take drugs, carjack anyone, run over countless people on the street, beat little old ladies to death with a bat, get blown by hookers (and then kill said hookers to get your money back), murder cops, and drive around blasting early 80's retro tunes. Eek!

Dolemite, the Bad-Ass King of all Pimps and Hustlers
Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww

  5. Have you played it?
Of course I have. Why would I comment about it otherwise?

Personally, I found the game to be incredibly boring and shallow (the same goes for just about every fighting game Paradox ever made). Power Stone 2 is far superior since it has items to utilize and enviromental disasters, which can lend itself to multiple playing styles. Thrill Kill, on the other hand, is little more than rote button pressing. I also find the Power Stone system pretty similar to the Thrill Kill system. (Who would take a person that's fully powered up head-on in either game?)

The game is not being banned from this list because, first of all, I can't. And secondly, though I may hate it, I'm not some power-crazed, edlict-issuing totalitarian.

And even then, I think you misunderstand; I was referring to its ban in North America (even though the game is very tame truthfully).

I'm not sure really. Perhaps I'm not looking at it through the right perspective- that is, as a launch title. It did have a lot of content, but it had something of a sloppy aura about it.

You can make it up to them by taking them out for ice cream later.
They seem to be taking it well, but after we went out for ice cream they don't play anymore

  7. 1. Castlevania: SotN
    2. Metal Gear Solid
    3. Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete
    4. Lunar: The Silver Star Story
    5. Wipeout XL
    6. Parappa the Rapper
    7. Tomba
    8. Gran Turismo
    9. Alundra
    10. Front Mission 3

You obviously didn't read what I wrote.

It's WAY different, because the fundamental of Thrill Kill is offense, and the fundamental of WuTang is defense.
