Thread: Turok Evolution Impressions

about the frame rate thats the complete opposite of everything ive seen and heard from other people compared ot the PS2 rev yeah but form what ive played of both of them and from what others have said to me the GC has a solid frame rate the Xbox's one dips at times

  2. I'd have to agree with Shin Johnpv, in that I've generally heard that the GC has the more stable frame rate (which isn't surprising since they cut the amount of objects and textures on screen as compared to the Xbox rev).

However, like I said, I haven't noticed any problem with the Xbox rev's framerate. Regardless, I think it's safe to assume that the PS2 rev is the weakest.

Consistent with the previous posts, I'd have to agree that the game just keeps getting better and better (SIGNIFICANTLY better than the first 2 Chapters) and I'm really enjoying the game. The levels are linear (although no more so than those in MOH:Fronline) and they are generally HUGE. Tons of tense, frenzied combat with copious amounts of satisfying gore. Also, the challenge has really ramped up without being too cheap.

I'm on Chapter 6 (which means I've played through 20-25 sub-stages), and I understand that I'm LESS THAN HALF WAY through the game (15 Chapters, or so I've heard). Plenty of game for the money.

Based on the first two Chapters, this game would probably rate a 5 or 6 out of 10. Now, the fun factor has pushed this game up to a solid 8, and perhaps even a bit higher for real Turok fans.

  3. Well, I want it more now, but I want to hear what you guys think after you've beaten it.

SO TRUE!! That thing is SO cool, especially the grainy, remote camera view.

Iguana went nuts on the weapons. I gurantee there's some stuff here you've never seen before. This is going on too long, but let me offer one measly scenario for those of you still on the fence:

Looking down a vast, torch lit granite hall, you suddenly see 6 lizard men skulking toward you with 4 barreled shotguns and sniper rifles blazing away. Click a button, and the side panels on your flechette gun fold back to reveal 18 barrels of minigun gun goodness. It takes a full 2 seconds for the whirring barrels to fully rev up, and then a solid curtain of lead proceeds to turn the 6 enemies into a scattered pile of lizard parts and pulpy goo. Oh yeah, all of the stone support struts in the hallway are likewise shredded. Yup, fun stuff.

  5. You'd think Acclaim would do a little something special for the GC version since the 64 Turok is where it got it's success. I loved Turok 1 and 3(probably the most). I'll pick up Turok maybe a little later but it's cool to see some solid impressions so far.

  6. ohh the flechette kicks sooo much ass too

see this is what i mean when i say halo's weapons are boring and why i find muc h of the game boring (halo that is)

i mean the variety of weapons in this game is just INSANE

i love the flame thrower too i was running around touching dino baddies for awhile yesterday and the alternate fire of that you can great a wall of fire with it

ive knocked down some trees onto enemies and shit

i have to agree the game just keeps getting better and better

and theres no run all the way down a building and run back up it level *LOL*

i dont care what anyone else says this game is about 50X better than Halo anyday of the week

ohh did you see on the one level the gun that you can use thats locked in place thats just like 4 HUGE machine guns mowed down many a dino while they ran at me in that thing

  7. I'm playing this on the PS2 right now, and I'm not impressed.
This game seems to confirm my suspicions that after playing DC Q3A with a keyboard and mouse, I could never go back to playing a FPS on a console with a controller ever again.

Oh yeah, can some one please explain the Turok story line to me? Because I am lost, who am I playing as in this one?

  8. your Tal Set a much earlier Turok than the past games

  9. I will not buy it yet because...well...I'm starting to get freaking poor

But it will be at the top of my "to rent" list along with The Thing
    omg TNL epics!

  10. Just so everybody knows, this game looks visually inumpressive because it was made for PS2 and sloppily ported to the other systems. Goodbye advanced lighting effects and high poly models, hello low rez textures and blah lighting.

    Just plain lazy.
