I picked one up again last summer, to use on my PC, because I remember it being a great controller.
In retrospect, it's uncomfortable and the black and white buttons are awkward to use.
The analog sticks are fine, but those were never a problem with the original pad either.
The dpad is the best MS has ever produced, which is to say it's mediocre.

CvS2 was playable on the fat OG Xbox Pad.
Doubled as a self defense weapon as well.
