Thread: Sega to become platform-exclusive...

  1. Sega has left plenty of titles in Japan... because they wouldn't have sold a damn in the US, mainly. I think the bigger offender is actually Capcom for culling the board game from Project Justice and not releasing Vampire Chronicles or Puzzle Fighter DC in the US, which had a shot a sales. Sega had a few games that might have gotten decent sales in the US if given the chance, but it would have been a risky venture any way you look at it.

Sakura Taisen series would take just too much translation effort to be considered profitable, adding in the first two games are likely to feel dated to even people who are into that kind of thing.

Tracer, for insulting Napple Tale... Halo is shit! garbage! poo! nana nana!

  2. I just don't understand why people still defend SEGA of America after all the times they've screwed their fans over.

Yeah, NoA sucks for never bringing Fire Emblem over, but they've been better in recent years. Off hand, the only games I can think of that didn't come here for the N64 were sin and punishment, custom robo and that fishing game. Compare that to the list I made of the 2(!) or so years the DC was around to the list of 5 years of the N64.

I don't like defending NoA, but to say that SoA is better boggles my mind. What they did to dreamcast owners is something I won't soon forget.

  3. Kinopio... did someone from Sega physically assault you, or something?

  4. That argument might mean something if Nintendo actually produced a tenth of what Sega produces.

Sega has its "defenders" because it's a great fucking company. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

  5. Hey:

For Christ's sake, whatever company has a console that is IMPORT-FRIENDLY and doesn't viciously fight mod protection.

So basically, Nintendo. However, I think that would be a bad business decision and I just want Sega to make some money for once, so the clear answer is Sony and the PS2. I really wouldn't mind a deal with Microsoft that much if not for the fact that the XBox is crashing and burning.

When Sega starts putting out games with 1/10 of the quality that Nintendo does then this statement would be valid. Only on these boards do people mention Sega in the same breath as Nintendo when it comes to quality. More games? yeah, I'll give that to Sega. Better games? no way. Kinopio don't you know that you can't bash Sega here? I don't get it either. I think these people would be happy if Sega made more hardware to shit on their customers with.

Sega has made more great games and in more genres than Nintendo, and it is not close. The NES was the only Nintendo system that more good first party games than its Sega equivalent.

  8. Errrr... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If someone prefers Sega good, if someone prefers Nintendo that's good too. People have different tastes, so, no one company is better than another (Except that EA sucks ass. That's quantifiable. )..

Anyway, personally about 75% of the games I like are made by Sega. I love them that much and always have. I find most Nintendo games to be rather lacklustre, at least the more well known franchises. Stuff like Advance Wars is great though.

Oh well, to each his own eh?

Nigel, only on these boards do people mention Sega in the same breath as Nintendo in terms of quality, you say?

Well then, the problem isn't with these boards, it's with the others.

The best Sega games are as good as the best Nintendo games. Sega releases more crap games than Nintendo but they also release more good games. They just release many more games period.

Most other boards are also populated by dimwitted fanboys who wouldn't know a good game if it were stapled to their forehead. What's your point?

System bias is for 10-year-olds who can't afford to buy more than one console, and is really out of place at TNL.

The point of my remark was to suggest that Nintendo brings more games to North America percentage-wise (a conjectural statement to begin with) because it makes fewer games than Sega. That's all.

EDIT: Ah, NeoZeedeater, we think alike.
