He was kicking my ass too, until I used a cyber-elf. It was an animal elf whose name I don't recall, but He "provided support fire."

With my cyber-elf thumping away at him (the elf actually targets the closest creature instead of firing exclusivly forward, and it fires independantly of your attacks. Excellent! Also, it doesn't exhaust until the end of the level. If you activate it at the start of the level, you'll have it until you die or complete the level), I was able to concentrate singly on dodging his attacks and wrecking the "mummy/zombie" reploids he calls out. My elf did all the work...to bad I can only use him once.

  2. Thanks for the tip CV! I'll check if I have that Cyber Elf... I completely forgot about using them. The manual doesn't offer a lot of help explaining things. Damn, too bad you can only use the Cyber Elves once...

  3. Hey,

I had a bit of trouble with Anubis too, but I found out why I wasn't doing much damage to him. He is immune to the electric upgrade. Your charged shots will do no damage if you have the electric power up from the falcon boss turned on.

How powered up are your weapons? I have my gun & beam saber fully powered up, the saber charge is a life saver.

Has anyone gone back into the undergound lab(the first level in the game)? It is a great spot to fill up your energy tanks & to get tons of energen crystals. Just hang out next to those spider generators. This also helps you upgrade your weapons, since they go up in levels through use.
Make sure you DON'T do the Ganesh level, or the stage will no longer be available to reenter.

  4. JM, I don't have any of those things that you mentioned. How did you power up? Did you just stay in one level, scroll back and forth and keep killing enemies until you level up?

I do that a little but I find that you shouldn't have to be forced to do this just to be able to beat a boss (although I think you can beat him without doing this). I haven't gotten energy tanks or figured out how to use the electric upgrade either... o_O I should experiment a little.

  5. Hey

You don't HAVE to do that, but it really makes the game so much more manageable.
Your Saber powers up like this.
    1st - two hit combo
    2nd- three hit combo
    3rd - Charge strike
    4th - Jumping spin slash
    5th - dashing spin slash
    6th - faster charge time.

Think of this one as an Action/RPG. You gain abilities as you use your weapons, The one use elves are like spells & the others are permanent status upgrades.

The elemental attacks are used when you charge up your Saber or pistol shot. The charged attack takes on the elemental type.

The energy tank is actually a Nurse elf that you have to feed to evolve. Use her & she turns into a energy tank on your sub screen.

  6. I heard this one was censored on its way over here (blood). How text heavy is the import version? Would I be missing anything by importing?

  7. There is quite a bit of text, & the story is much cooler than the average MM game. Just wait untill you figure out who the main enemy is!

Personally I don't miss the blood too much. The game is great & plays wonderfuly that is all that matters. The enemies still get cut in two when killed with the saber, & honestly it seems kind of silly, almost like a gimmick, to have red blood spurting out of robots. That said, I will still try to pick up the import if the price goes down.

  8. Thanks for the info JM, I guess I'll have to resort to leveling up if I really can't beat Anubis. It usually comes down to figuring out the boss' pattern. One reason I tire of RPG's is because if you want to get through a certain section, you usually have to just run around until you get into another battle and redo this until you've become powerful enough and that isn't fun for me.

Chibi, you could check ebay for this game, but I think the auctions go for about $15 used. My advice is to pick up the US version and get the Japanese one if you want to understand everything. It's not a big deal for me though...

  9. The blood is no big deal... I've played both and it's not a big deal.

Oh yeah, I beat this at 4am last night. I was driven to say the least. Anyway you guys haven't seen nothing yet, if Anubis is giving you trouble Got a B ranking and final time was 2:04:51

  10. Damn you are quick Chux! I'm a wuss.. I try a mission three times and if I lose, I turn off my GBA.
