Because its cool to have something that everyone else doesnt have.
You can show off your sweet ass egg blaster or something, but if anyone who wants it can have it, its not cool anymore.
This blows.
Way to go Sega!!!![]()

There's always going to be ways to cheat and people who want to do it, just play the game with people cool enough to not cheat and it doesn't matter.
That, and Sega can fix their mistake for the US version...Originally posted by SpoDaddy

There's nothing Sega can do. The only way they can keep cheating at bay is regular patching, and I doubt PSO is going to be patched regularly.
PSO memory:
Someone named SSJ_Gouki or whatever:
"Dude, I didn't use a Gameshark to get to level 100!"
*sees him strut around with his double saber*
...
"How do you use magic again?"
Won't AR or Gameshark be out soon too? Then the real fun begins...
Too bad Nintendo/Sega aren't doing the same as MS... MS could track and ban cheaters much easier you know, having centralized servers and all.
Gongos = smart man.

Back when PSO for the DC came out, how did you go about playing with other people? I for one never joined a game at random. I considered it bad manners, so to speak. Having someone just waltz in on your game wasn't my idea of fun. I always met with people in the lounge before I went on an adventure.
Duping items makes battle mode pointless since the right items will give you a huge advantage, more than a dozen or so levels.
PKing is really annoying even if you're not dropping jack. Don't forget the hacks that can completely destroy your character.
But the biggest bug in PSO has always been its snooze worthy gameplay. I played for 60 hours on DC and that's all I'll ever play.
