Thread: alcoholic beverages

  1. Most times I drink, I dont drink to get shitfaced. Only every now and then when Im surrounded by a good set of people, and I know that much fun will come out of it. The majority of the time, I just get nice buzz going, and feed it occasionally to keep it up there.

But I drink very rarely, anyway, so it doesnt really matter. Most nights I end up at the bar, Im just shooting pool, sober as can be.
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.

Usually just beer. Amber Bock, Bass, Shiner, Fat Tire, or Sam Adams generally. Fat Tire is great, but they don't sell it here in California for some reason.

Haven't acquired a taste for Guinness yet, but I'm workin on it. Most of the time the bars around here serve it either too warm or too old. Have to find a place that has a happy medium, I guess.

Red Stripe - The radio commercials are frikken hilarious, but I've yet to try it out. Any good?

  3. Mikes Hard is good... smirnoff is ok, though those malts all start belnding together - I find Mike's is the best (personally). Strawberry Daquiris are pretty much the same thing, just strawberry :/

I find it wierd that so many people like anything Vodka... personally I can't stand the stuff.

I have a question though - has anyone tired that Jack Daniels Hard Cola(Soda?). I'm haveing a hard time trying to imagine the taste of such a creature since I'm naturally assumeing it's yet another hard liqour based Malt drink (i.e. Smirnoff, Skyy). Is it any good and what is it like?

That's because you obviously don't like (not saying can't handle) strong drinks, but rather drink the pussy (as in not strong) drinks such as flavored beers and fruit rum drinks.

Thanks to my love for The Big Lebowski, I am an avid fan of white russians (the drink, that is)
Very awesome movie. I can't say I enjoy a white russian though. Maybe the local bartenders have never gotten it right.

Yet again agreed. I drank half a fifth of this in about ten minutes during my freshman year of college and got so sick I didn't think I'd ever drink again. Nasty stuff.
Now I just tend to have a drink or two, if any at all. I usually have a dark beer of some sort, or a margaritta.

Poor call: I was commenting on someone elses prefered stock when talking about Daquiris and so on. In any case, those flavored beers (often called fruity drinks) are actually stronger than beers.

However - my list of perfered drinks was Duvel Ale (from Denmark; 8.5% by vol.) and Mead (10.5% by volume). They aren't VERY hard, but they are stiffer than your traditional American brew. As far as not likeing Vodka... it's simply because I don't LIKE drinking something that tastes poor just for the sake of getting funny fast. I'd personally rather drink something that tastes remotely decent (or complements a meal well) that can make me funny not quite as quickly.

*shrugs* I was comparing them to vodka. Anyways, yes, flavored beers are much stronger beer, but they tend to make me want to throw up after 1. Too sweet, which is why I like vodka. All though I don't prefer the taste to flavored beer, I can somehow drink much more, and it's not like I don't like that taste, all though smell is a different story.

I find that cheap vodka gives me worse hangovers than anything else. not suprising, since cheap vodka is basically rubbing alcohol. I won't buy anything cheaper than smirnoff. I usually drink Skyy or Grey Goose and I feel fine in the morning. Its more expensive, but its worth it.

as for alcohol and the consumption of it being stupid; we all pick our poisons.

  9. Vodka is the one alcohol that will most likely make me throw up and/or have diarrhea the next day if I get really buzzed by it. It’s a bad hang-over.

But I do have to agree with you Kinopio, the cheaper the Vodka the worst the hangover is going to be. Problem is that when someone throws a house party, they usually buy the cheap stuff...
