Thread: Virtual On for PS2.

  1. VO on a Sony system. Weird, but perhaps not initially any weirder than Sonic on Nintendo's platforms, or VF on PS2 for that matter. Whatever... if it's VO, I'm buying it. Still, VO on the 'box sounds a whole lot better to me.
    "Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"

  2. No Twin Sticks are going to be made. The PS2 controller is actually decent for this kind of game.

    - Analog sticks for movement, just like the arcade.
    - R1 and L1 for firing, press both for super attack.

    Good job Sega.

  3. "- Analog sticks for movement, just like the arcade."

No... it's digital in the arcade. And if no twin sticks are going to be made then frankly that sucks.

"The PS2 controller is actually decent for this kind of game."

No actually, it will be shit. Flimsy analogue sticks don't cut it.

I know they're digital in the arcade...I was referring to the fact that they both use "sticks." That's what you call those things on the dual shock 2, right?

I respect your opinion, even though it's wrong.

  6. I don't think you've ever played a Virtual On game in your life. Expecting me to play VO with PS2 analogue sticks is about as bright as suggesting that VF4 control would be "decent" using those analogue sticks also. It's totally wrong, there's too much give.

  7. Of course I've played Virtual On. You can technically play the game digitally through the analog sticks. Just look at Metal Gear Solid for PS0ne. No matter how little or how far you pushed the stick, Snake ran.

  8. Simply no, you see, there is a solidity and a particular restirction in movement with the twin sticks that makes it useable to begin with. I'd FAR rather use the D-Pad on the S controler (or dual shock's D... even though it's pretty absurd from my stand point) and the face buttons + triggers over analoge sticks on ANY (ANY) console. Basically, if it isn't digital - it won't work right.

I think the DS2's sticks are respectable enough for most games, but for the heavy hitting (on the controler) action of VO the sticks will not cut it. If the GC's pad was bigger it would work best perhaps on those sticks, followed by Xbox then the ligher weight, cheaper DS2's. But all of that is useless since it just wouldn't work on analog sticks to begin with.

Sounds like somebody doesn't own an Xbox

Kidding, but seriously, Sidez is right about the "bear's ass" possibilities. But I guess we run the same rish for games like the new Shinobi, too.

  10. This isn't MGS though is it? This is Virtual On, a fast arcade game where precision is a must. The DS2 sticks are flimsy and inaccurate as a digital replacement, period.
