I think review copies of the GC version are out, which means its over and done with anyway. And it's supposed to be identical to the other versions, though Xbox version apparently has better draw distance (in this game, this doesn't matter).

That was (and is) my first gripe after picking it up at Circuit City last night ($36.99 was too tempting). Didn't play it enough to form any solid opinion, but my thoughts thus far are in line with those of Ammadeau and Chojin. In short, it seems decent, but it's not really grabbing me.Originally posted by Chojin
I also think it's rather gay that you can't hoverbackwards in gerwalk mode and that your always moving foward whenever you enter the mode(Though you can stop yourself but it takes a few seconds and everytime you leave the mode and go back you gotta do it again
I have a feeling that I might be exchanging Robotech for Quantum Redshift which, for some reason, I think I'll enjoy a whole lot more.
"Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"
I'm liking Robotech a lot more now even though more flaws in its gameplay keep cropping up, but Quantum Redshift is easily the better game here. It's just a heck of a lot more polished, refined, and fun. Too bad I've beaten all the characters on expert and getting kicked around like a chew toy in master.

Finally play it today and let me say that is all good!right is not perfect it has is flaws but what game is perfect??
Sakura Taisen 3 is perfect.
Some games come near perfection though, I could name dozens, but Robotech doesn't make that list by a country mile. It's overall a weak effort, though not a truly bad game.

I really hope this game has multiple endings because the one I got...bleh. I also unlocked the medal to get the armoured valkyrie(It even says so next to the medal) and it didn't even give the fucking thing to me. Way to go.
BTW, seeing what the voice actors for Minmei and Rick looked like scared the fuck out of me. At least you get to find out that the VA of Rick is good friends with Bulk from Power Rangers.
Edit: Bah, the Armored Valkyrie and female Zentradi power suit are multiplayer only. What a waste.
I bought the game today to get in on the $36.99 deal (price matched at EB) and to make sure that I wanted it. I played through Chapter 1 and am currently stuck on the first episode in chapter 2 (defending the civic center). I think it's a great game so far...beautiful and plays well from the limited exposure I've had.
The only gripe I have is the sound. The person who mixed the DD track must've been deaf or something...alot of the time, the rears are doing 90% of the sound with the front doing 10% of the sound. He must've had the studio set up backwards.

*got the XBox version*
Well, as I had forseen from the gameplay movies released months ago, the fighter form is kinda clunky to control. Not as bad as in previous Macross games, but I really would have liked to see better response.
In fact, the control is a little clunky in general. I also agree that it's a real bummer that Gerwalk mode cannot move backwards.
I dig the graphics and how they represent the color pallet of the TV series so well. Seeing the Macross shaded in its TV colors (rather than the rust-coloration it got in the Movie and later Macross series) is really nostalgic.
So far, its not the ultimate Macross game that has yet to surface (the Super Famicom shmup comes close), but its better than most Macross games.
I think I'll keep it.
