Are these games any good? Ive tried out layer section III AKA Raycrisis and its one of the worst shooters I've ever played. And are they intense bullet dodging games like most psikyo shooters or do they rely more on memorization?

Rayforce/Layer Section is one of the best old-school shmups of all time. It's fast, hard as hell, and just plain fun. It' nothing like its shitty sequels. You need to own this game.

Well, I thought it was excellent and very fun shmup. Cool graphics and lots of old fashinoned shooter action. I also liked its PSX sequels, Ray Storm and Ray Crisis(not that much, but was still ok)
As Kidnemo said, there should be a thread about this game. Search for it.
Layer Section 1 aka Galactic Attack is fucking awesome. Layer Section 2 aka Raystorm is ok. Raycrisis is ass.

I bought Galactic Attack at Toys R' Us for $5.00 one day.
Still one of the best purchases I've ever made.
For what I paid, I should've gotten half the game GA is. Simple and fun. And at least Acclaim didn't spackle their name on it TOO much.
...I also once bought EGG for Dreamcast for $3.00.

Galactic Attack/Layer Section/Rayforce is great. If you can get it do not hesitate. Raystorm is...ok...to an extent. Raycrisis blows.
No one warned me about Raycrisis. I loved the first game, and didn't really play Raystorm save for very breifly, and I optimisticly and foolishly snagged RayCrisis and well... it sucks. ALOT.

I can't understand why people rag on Raystorm so much. It's fast paced, very challenging, and it has great bosses. Raycrisis, now THAT is a poor game. I pray they make a sequel that lives up to Layer Section which is still the best.
