Striker 99 is currently my favorite shmup . . .
I have a vid that game (and the X-36 in action), if anyone is interested.
56'ers beware!
They should make a Strikers 20XX, with the X-36 as the main plane...

No more Psikyo = tiny/no chance of a home port = sad Bio but happy Mode.
Way to go, sir. Strikers is my favorite shmup series, but I'm afraid my experience with 99 will be confined to the arcades.

Man, I really wish someone would port this game to a home console
Without a home port, there is no chance of me ever playing this game except via emulation. The new additions to the gameplay sound pretty cool, and I'm glad they've still kept most of the traditional "Psikyo shooter" elements intact.
I know they merged with some communications company and all but was it ever actually confirmed that Psikyo closed it's arcade/game production?Originally posted by BioMechanic

And that's the only reason I love Mode7.
first time ive seen a strikers 99 thread on here. its at the arcade at school, got me through my 2nd year of college...course it wasted a shitload of quarters, but anyways, some of my impressions...
difficulty wise, i cant compare to 1 or 2 cause i didnt get to play them much, but for me its a lot easier than gunbird 2...partially cause the sticks on the gb2 machine are loose as hell...but mainly because the tech bonuses. never did a 1 credit clear though, might have come close on my best high score run (i think 3rd or 4th form on the final boss or something). for a while i could almost consistently get to the final boss. since school just started back up, been playing a little again, been getting to 1-6 after a few tries. for comparison i have trouble getting to 1-4 on gb2, 1-5 is rare for me.
I've lost enough planes in the pursuit of tech bonuses to feel confident in saying it rarely makes things any easier. At least not in any place that really matters.difficulty wise, i cant compare to 1 or 2 cause i didnt get to play them much, but for me its a lot easier than gunbird 2...partially cause the sticks on the gb2 machine are loose as hell...but mainly because the tech bonuses.
But yeah, certainly easier than GB2.
That's what I like to hear.Originally posted by Mode7

Any screenshots?
RF Emporium has a couple fuzzy shots, for whatever reason.
Visually, think a slightly beefed up 1945 II. Might capture a bit of footage and/or screens later, depending on how ambitious I'm feeling.
