Is it $10 of fun, $20 of fun, or $40 of fun?
I think Yoshi's Story is an okay by itself but Nintendo really should not have approved it for release given the company's usual excellent track record for not allowing mediocre sequels.
I'm surprised Majora's Mask doesn't get the same harsh treatment as Yoshi's Story since it's pretty much the Zelda equivalent. Well, it's better than Yoshi's Story but still a major drop from its predecessor.

YI is way overrated. YS is way underrated. People are stoopid. End of story.
I beat Yoshi's Story the same day that I bought it. The artwork was nice, but the game had no meat on its bones. I think it was geared completely towards young children.
i'd say kirby 64 would be a much better investment than YS, if you're looking for that type of platforming action on the 64..
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!
It's the same reason Wario 4 wasn't received well by fans of the previous 2 games. It was dumbed down and lost alot of what made the great in the process, whith only eye and ear candy to make up for it.

Yoshi's Story has 24 stages. I don't see that as short at all.
I paid full price the day it came out $59.99 and loved the art style and the boss design. I do recall some tricky platforming though, it's been awhile but I still have fond memories of it...
The problem with Yoshi's Story is that it's fun the first time you play it but the level design is TERRIBLE compared to YI and the finding all the melons is NOT good replay value at all. In short, fun game, but it is a terrible game compared to YI. It's pretty obvious they made it so little kids could beat it (one time weird experiment into the barely-able-to-play market I guess) which was a big mistake.
$10 would be good to buy YS just to kill a few hour(s). I rented it and beat it on my first try. I didn't like the branching path system compared to the linear levels from YI. The graphics were great and the last boss fight was fun but that was pretty much it...
