It's okay, if I remember correctly the game had some serious camera issues, but you did get to use a chicken drumstick as a weapon, whether or not that's something cool is up to you.
I love MediEvil - I liked it better than Maximo, in fact. It has more variety in terms of weapons (axe, crossbow, torch), enemies (everything from crazy guys on stilts to giant suits of armor controlled by tiny evil dwarves to demons), and environments (the ant colony bit is unforgettable). Plus the soundtrack and character design are among the best on the system, I think. The game also had somewhat of a bittersweet story, as well.
I remember reading an interview with David Siller (the guy in charge of developing Maximo) who said his team had to change a lot in Maximo because ideas they had were already in MediEvil (like the windmill part), and done extremely well.
One of my top 3 favorite PSX games, but sadly, the sequel fell flat. Pass on the sequel, but the original is highly worth tracking down.
You liked Maximo, you'll love MediEvil.

I wouldn't exactly say pass on medieval 2, just rent it after playing the first and seeing if the changes ruin it for you or not. I have one quick question: is the ending different if you don't beat it with 100% on every level? I made sure to get 100%, as it was easy and why the hell not, but am curious.
