Hah, Ikaruga could take 34 VMU'S and I don't think people here would be discouraged from getting it!

    News from the MM's Cafe:

Following the release of announcement on Softbank Publishing's magazine, Treasure has announced in their official web site of arcade shooter Ikaruga's port to the Sega DreamCast.

In addition to the "Prototype mode", three aditional modes modes will be available in the game: Illust mode, Sound mode, and practice mode There will be no extra stages or bosses on the DC version, since it is fundamentally a port of the arcade version. However, as an arcade port, Ikaruga will be playable in a vertical screen mode and horizontal screen mode.

Ikaruga for the Sega Dreamcast is scheduled for release in September 5th, priced 6800 Yen.

Special thanks to Sha-V for the News.

Short Comment- According to Dengeki Online, it seems that the "Prototype mode" is where the player has limited stocks of ammo, and needs to absorbe the enemy's shots or make chain combos in order to replenish. - "Madman" Henry Moriarty

  4. so.. lemme get this straight.. the horizontal screen mode means you can turn a TV or monitor on its side and play the game vertically like that??

i wonder if that'll be possible w/ a computer monitor thru VGA (the only way i'm gonna play this sweet looking game)..

and i guess we should reset that countdown timer..

Is there any reason flipping my monitor could screw it up? I have never tried before.

i would not recomend flipping, say a 21" Trinitron VGA monitor, just flip your TV - turn it off for 5 - 10 minutes, flip it, when your done, turn it off 5 - 10 minutes, put it back to normal.

the differnce in gameplay is INCREDIBLE on other shooters, and im sure it is worth a downgrade in graphics from VGA to component on Ikaruga.

does anyone know the technical reason why you aren't supposed to flip a VGA monitor?? does it damage it?
