They also have scores for Sega GT 2002 and GC PSO (very nice).

Famsitu also mentioned Gamecube Ikaruga in Januray 2003. *-neo
What?! Not straight 10s? I'm cancelling my DC preorder and reserving the GC one! I'm sure that version will be the RS-killer!

  3. syoo of DOA Online brought this to my attention:

    http://www.treasure-inc.co.jp/bbs/bbs.html

Hiroshi Iuchi explains the screen modes in the Dreamcast
version of Ikaruga. The original message is numbered 10137
in the BBS; I'll provide a machine translation.

    -----
About the vertical screen mode of "Ikaruga", since there
were those how many inquiries, I
    supplementary-explanation-do.

Although it has written to specification explanation that
there are two vertical screen modes, the 1st is [ "mode
which makes monitor length and plays it" 2 ? ] the 2 modes
of "a monitor rotates only cross key operation 90 in all
degrees on a screen with width."

It seems that most liquid crystal display monitors of why
or marketing have clockwise many things in which 90-degree
rotation is possible although there is much direction to
which it considers tying to a liquid crystal display
monitor using a VGA box, and comes. In this case, since it
becomes a vertical contrary even if it makes it vertical
screen mode, those who consider purchase need to take great
care and need to consider purchase. (Although it rotates as
mentioned above in inside, seemingly, there are some which
have a flip function in a monitor side)

but since it is not cheap shopping, a game play is carried
out in horizontal screen mode at once -- having -- "screen
    -- being small ... since it becomes " -- ?? -- since it
thinks that it is not late to consider purchase, please
inquire (Horizontal screen mode may actually be a little
hot on 14 type (less than [ it ] is included) television.)
I think whether since there is also individual difference,
    it is necessary to hurry.

and gentlemen Relations should talk. I am sad when Ikaruga
is looking at arguing owing to....
    -----

    This is what I gather.

On most televisions, rotated controls are needed if one
wants to play Ikaruga on TATE mode properly. But on certain
liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors, there is a flip
switch, so one could control the game properly with
un-rotated controls. Also, Iuchi warns that some LCD
monitors rotate the wrong way, so the screen would be
upside-down, so people planning on buying a new LCD monitor
    should note this.

Because it's expensive to shop for any new television,
those who want the vertical experience on an un-rotatable
monitor (I'm guessing giant ones and poorly-ventilated
ones) can play Ikaruga as if it's a horizontally-oriented
shooting game. This was included because some would
complain that the original horizontal mode with bars on the
side would be too small to see anything.

If I'm wrong on anything, please let me know.

  4. OK, but it'll still have proper controls in TATE mode, right (IE: no crappy reversed controls like in U.S. Raiden Project)? He's just saying they added an extra control option for the high end/LCD display users?

Yes, it'll still have the proper controls.

  6. Yep, guys i did order two copies. And admittedly selling at least one somewhere down the road is in the back of my mind. Thanks to all the information along the way, and to this forum and people for providing a source that is what the true gamer looks for......

  7. Thanks for all the info, Bernard.

  8. So only 13 more days now, does any one know what the cover looks like... I found this one on Himeya.

  9. A few bits of mangled info. Gamefront has a news bit regarding Ikaruga on PS2. From what I can make out it's a quote from Treasure saying the game would be too hard to reprogram to PS2. There's also something about the Radiant Silvergun ship mentioned, but I've no clue what it says.

Are you talking about this piece of news from gamefront.de:

    ---
    MULTI

will man überlegen, ob eine solche Neuauflage Sinn macht.
    ---

Machine translation leads me to believe that there are no
plans to port Radiant Silvergun onto other consoles. Megawa
is aware, however, of the concern from Treasure fanatics.
As soon as Treasure's current projects are completed, the
company would consider such a port.

I'll consult with a native German to verify.
