It took forever to kill a stupid little worm-thingie because many swings that would have hit in any other game missed here for some reason.
I haven't played morrowind, but I've played Everquest so I know how frustrating that can be

  3. I like the fighting. It's like Kings Field, except you have to earn it. If earning it is too much trouble for you, return it. I personally think this is GOTY.

Nope, combat in Kings Field stomps all over Morrowind. Even against an enemy that could kill you with a single blow, you'd at least still hit when you struck. sure, you'd do little or no damage but at least you'd hit. In Morrowind, I sometimes had to take multiple swings at point blank range against an enemy that was killed with a single hit.

I'm using my longblade (I'm most proficient with it) and things appear to be getting better. Improving my character is taking forever though. Raising your stats goes from excruciatingly difficult (no xp for killing monsters? What the hell?) to totally idiotic (raising your acrobatic stats from merely jumping in place).

There seems to be so much to like here (graphics are cool and the music is excellent) but the combat just seems to sour the experience. However, being open minded, I'll give Morrowind another few days. If nothing changes, it's off to ebay with you!

I bought the game and I traded it in about 3 weeks later...I really tried but I just couldn't get into it.

...oh, and by the way, I loved King's Field.

Heh. I'd say it's relatively logical, so far as videogames go.

  8. Some have told me that they felt the game was just too big for its own good, and I can see why they feel that way, at least when it comes to working through the actual main storyline.

I've never really done more than pick at the main story from time to time. I was usually too busy getting loot and exploring. As a result, some of my interest began to wane when I found that most of the loot I was getting was inferior to what I had. But that was well after the time I spent with it had more than paid for the game. =D

I can sympathize with anyone who found themselves bored with the amount of extended walking involved. There were times, when I felt that part of it very tedious, but I guess if I want a huge game, I have to take the bad with the good.
Look out, man, Wooly's gone ape-shit.

  9. Too big? Let them burn in hell! I'm wishing and hoping Bethesda changes their mind about not giving us the add on, cause I'm dying for more to do. It was big, but nowhere near too big.

Melf, when I say like KF, but earn it, I mean you'll be connecting with every hit and then it will be like KF if you do enough training. Of course, I'd say better than KF, using the right stick for looking is way better than shoulder buttons IMO.

  10. I agree with EThugg, it's not big enough. It needs to be MUCH larger. And there needs to be more skills too. Combat needs work, but I think combat was actually a secondary role in the game. I actually had fun with the combat after awhile. When I got hand to hand down really good I went trough a dunmer stronghold and just punched everyone out while they cast spells and swung swords at me.
