superior version of 32bit shooting games

I was wondering if anyone on this message board could tell me whether or not the sega saturn versions of dodonpachi and strikers 1945 II are superior to their playstation counterparts. It would be greatly appreciated if you were to explain your reasoning as well. thanks very much in advance.

Many say the SS and PS versions of DDP are just as good as one another.

Not too sure about Strikers, however.

The Saturn version has more slowdown than the PS version.
Especially on the "harbour" level this is notable. the game slows down when you reach the scond diagonal moving boat (see first screenshot). The game continuesly slows down for about half a minute!!!!! On some other levels one might experience slowdown when facing the bosses.

It's a battle of mediocrity in DDP's case, though most seem to give the nod to the PSX version. But if you're that concerned about having an arcade perfect experience, you'll be needing the board.

The PS version of Dodonpachi is better if you don't care about both players being forced to use the same ship in 2P Tate mode play. The pixelicious explosions in the Saturn one mar it a little, and the audio there has a tin can phone sound. Shmups.com has reviews of OTH versions which make some comparisons between them.

Strikers 1945 II on PS2 is pretty nice... I found the arcade version at a bowling center near me and noticed little difference. This was what I had gone with after hearing the talk about slowdown in the Saturn one (see Rob's post with a quoted example).

Saturn Strikers 2 has bad slowdown on some levels and on most or all the bosses. I have Strikers 2 PSX and it's very smooth but the textures look like total crap compared to the Saturn version. But I'll take little-no slowdown over better textures. Sat DDP is very smooth, any slowdown is barely noticeable IMHO but it's been awhile since i played all the levels. I don't have the PSX version but i know it has almost no slowdown except for one of the last levels which had slowdown even in the arcade.
