Thread: XBOX emulation

  1. At the local arcade I keep hearing a guy brag about how hes playing "all this Neo Geo shit" on his Xbox so who knows.

  2. Even though XB reads most CD-RWs, if you plan on burning anything other than emulators *ahem* I'd invest in a DVD-R drive if I were you.

  3. Can you copy a game to a HD on the XB? Say, if you put a 120 GB drive in there, can you copy a game over to it?

  4. Matt: It's been done, I ran across someone talking about that the other day. Check the bigger emu sites. Unfortunately I don't have links, if I find any I'll post them. Is your's modded?

  5. Yes. You need some crap, I think you need Evolution X and a Evolution X capable mod (like Xecuter)... I just use DVDs, since I want everything, and a HDD, even 120GB, will be limiting...

I got a emulation Q that is recently related to Xbox.... Final Burn or whatever. I downloaded it. I needs 'Toaplan2' and Capcom CPS 1/2 games... anyone know what games fall under those? Do some of them fall under MAME too? I know a site with tons of arcade roms, but none were listed as those (Toaplan2 and Capcom CPS 1/2) specically. I've never been into arcade emus and stick normally to consoles, so I know little about this (arcade) stuff.

  6. Yes, some fall under mame. I have every cps2 game zipped in a file, but it is almost 600 megs, so unless you have a speedy connection you will have to find them slowly.

    Basically, CPS2 is:

Aliens V Predator, vampire hunter, the early X-men and Marvel games, D&D games, and such.

  7. Yes, you can copy a game to your hard drive. My friend has his Xbox set up via Network Cable to his computer and sends files to his Xbox. One of the utilities with the new bios enables to copy any game from CD over to the HD as well.

And the EMU's are not on a CD at all...there's plenty of room for the emus and ROMs in the regular XB HD. My friend just downloaded the recently relased CPS-II EMU onto his HD. He said Darkstalkers was sweet, but we all know that...

As far as the modding goes, actually you don't need a chip in your XB after your bios is flashed. My friend actually took his out afterwards and was using it to help mod other friends XBoxes. I just want the mod for all the EMU's... we were kicking it a couple of weeks ago playing Super Bomberman 5 on the SNES emu having a great time... nuff said!

  8. My xb is not modded, though I am heavily considering the option, and replacing the drive with a bigger one.

My aim is to finish that, stick it in a mini-cabinet, use the xarcade sticks, and have a cheap PC of sorts that will allow me to run mame and the like on it.

Also, could I put a new drive in the XB, and then use the hard drive reset disc from ms to bring it up to spec? or is that limited to the specific drives in the market xb's?

Pretty much every major Capcom game from around Ghouls N Ghosts(1988) onwards is CPS1 or 2 until you get to Naomi(like Capcom vs SNK) and CPS3(like Street Fighter 3).

Those are about all the CPS2 roms around, if you can decypher the names. Most are fairly obvious, if you know the japanese names and all.

These are all the CPS2 roms, I think.

The parent file is necessary to run all smaller files. So, no parent file, then no lesser file.
