Why is Starfox Adventures so underrated?

It's such a polished quality game and nobody seems to appreciate or talk about it. Is it just a case of living in Animal Crossing's shadow? Or is it being unfairly compared to Ocarina of Time?

I think most people are wary of Rare's games nowadays so they have probably been avoiding it.

No, not because Ocarina of Time is better, because Ocarina of Time was such a landmark epic game that it isn't fair to compare any game to it. OOT is maybe the greatest game ever made. Starfox Adventures has a lot of original stuff and variety in it, enough great stuff to differentiate it from OOT and let it stand on it's own. And those graphics are just crazy.

I know I haven't talked too much about it because I haven't had time to play it too much, I get my AC fix in then play SFA when I can. I haven't gotten very far in the game at all, only the DarkIce Mines where I'm supposed to free Tricky and Belinda Te. It will honestly take me a few more months to beat it.

I don't care that it's like Zelda, as long as they don't try to hide the fact, in fact so far the game structure isn't wholly reminiscent of Zelda's, since it's slightly more straightforward. Agreed on the graphics, I don't have a component enabled TV, but playing it widescreen on a 58 inch TV with s-video is pretty damn good too. I am a total whore for 60 fps so I am all set. I even popped in Resident Evil the other day (haven't finished it yet, damn hunters) and was amazed at how jerky the graphics were.

Bingo. If TOOT had never been released, I would appreciate SFA more, but as it is, I haven't touched it in days.

Spo, I've put off picking it up mainly because of Animal Crossing. I may buy it this week though, as I'm about ready for something new.
