I'm thankful for:
Nintendo being relevant after all these years...
For PC gaming being amazing.
I'm thankful for:
- Games where you can cancel attack recovery frames into an evasive action.
- Nice menu noises.
- Score multipliers that make the game look, sound, or behave differently.
- Games where visual and audio cues rather than numbers squirting out signify the efficacy/effectiveness of an attack. Don't lay bare the game's code. Clothe it.
- Games where you can block to take less but guaranteed damage or parry and risk getting clobbered.
- Time attack modes. Oh, you can win? Cool. Now, win better.
- Games where you can sacrifice health to go faster or hit harder.
- Drifting.
- Active reload.
- The guy who really sucks for the first two thirds of every SRPG, but turns into a beast if you stick with him long enough.
- Critical hit animation.
- Double-jumps that are flips that attack.
- Holding a button and then releasing that button.
- Dash buttons.
- Being asked to engage with an enemy projectile or another obstacle beyond simply avoiding it (e.g., swat it back, get close to it for some kind of reward, slipstream, etc.)
- Permadeath.
But most of all...
YOU, TNL!
- Nah, most of all games that have a normal enemy death sprite for gun kills, then a special, chopped-in-half death sprite for sword kills.

I am thankful for lots of good single player games (especially RPGs) and not everything is going digital (yet).

Great thread, and I second many of your points of thanks arbm! I am thankful for:
- quick checkpoint reloads in time sensitive games
- that perfect mix of projectiles onscreen and slowdown
- punchy punchy, kicky fightmans
- chill out strategy games that I can eat candy while playing
- Nintendo titles I've missed out on
- Steam sales
- too many options
And also TNL and tits.
Nintendo finally made a Zelda I liked.
Sega finally released a Sonic that most people liked.
Microsoft released a racing game I really, really liked.
Sony痴 third parties released a bunch of japanesey games I壇 probably like if I had the time to play them.
MyLifeinGaming, Techmoan, and Lazy Game Reviews released a bunch of quality youtube content that got me interested in vintage electronics and how to get the best out of them.
Even if most of them only dropped by to say Hey and peaced out again, a bunch of old faces swung by the TNHell.
Aurora痴 pimply back!
