Salt, of the earth, yessir!  Why, the farmers provide the major source of food for your islanders!  Without these hardworking fellas, your people would starve!
There's much more than food to use these guys for, though.  Tobacco and sugar, for example, won't feed your people, but will make lots of money for the economy, and can be used to make cigars and rum!  These multitalented peasants can produce corn, sugar, bananas, papaya, coffee, pineapple, cattle and goat!  It's fair to say that the farmers of your island make up one of the most important groups to watch.

SLF, sweaty and hardworking, seeks Romeo-type agronomist. A farmer's work is never done.Comments:
Agriculture is, of course, one of the most industries of the Tropican Nation.  Not only does it produce food for your people, but it provides an export as well as resources for refinement in your canneries, cigar factories and rum distilleries.
Some crops provide plenty of food while others make lots of money on the world market.  So it's good to have a variety of crops.  And then there are the cattle and goats raised at the ranches, as well.  Yes, you'll have plenty of these back-water agronomists running around, tilling the soiling, herding the calves, doing what they can to feed your people in one of the oldest and most respected professions around.
