Well, a bunch of games came out and a bunch more are on the way. They're coming in herds at this point, or possiby flocks, hoping to feed off our cash and nest in our spare time. The usual cliched sentiments of "It's really too bad that so many quality titles are coming out all in this one period of time, everything's getting buried under everything else" apply. It's cliche, but it's also very, very true. It's not that I want, say, Metal Arms in April once it's dropped to $10 or so; if it actually came out in April at $40-$50 I'd probably (maybe) pay full price. It's just that even if I was both unemployed and loaded down with more cash than I knew what to do with I've no idea how 75% of these titles would get any attention at all. Oh well, it's not my marketing dollars and game development studios seeing a lousy return on their development dollar...

Still, all grumbling and cynicism aside, it's been a great couple of weeks to be a gamer. Action, platformer, sports, driving, sims, RPGs, arcade, everything all at once and so much to choose from. The quality level is exceptionally high this year, even with the odd Barbie game to point to and laugh at. We're almost out of the worst of glut and once things settle down mid-December (and we all stop running around from Christmas prep) we can sit and really play these games that have piled up. Personally, I can't wait.
