GameCube Feature Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Journal - Week One 03/22/2004

Epilogue
And that concludes this week's thrilling tale of life on the farm. I've got a good start at settling in, I've upgraded all my tools as much as possible for the moment, I'm persuading all three choices in the female department that I've only got eyes for them, and my livestock are happy. There's a lot I don't know about yet, many unanswered gameplay questions and quite a few village oddities that I'm sure will have explanatory cut scenes as I work my way deeper into the community. I'm actually looking forward to finding out the answers to both sets of questions, and seeing what other questions arise on the way.

This isn't really mean to be a review of the game but I will make a comment on how it stacks up overall. It's addictive. It's got the quality that the best games have that keeps you playing a little bit longer despite all your best intentions that maybe it's time to sleep now, or go outside and accomplish something useful. One of the most common phrases used to describe any Harvest Moon game is "It sounds boring, but. . .," and as usual it's true. It does sound like it should be as exciting as watching paint dry or plants grow, but as it turns out watching plants grow may not be exciting, but it can be very rewarding.
