Eidos has given us a glimpse at the their newest project, Thunderstrike: Operation Phoenix, a 3D action-arcade game based on military missions and campaigns.
The game takes place in a time...(well, come to think of it, the story is based in our own present day era). A deadly wave of organized extremist terrorism strikes almost simultaneously at all principal nations. The globe's major powers immediately issue a state of emergency, merging their weapons resources and technologies into a clandestine project entitled "Operation Phoenix".
Players will take on the role of a highly-trained super-pilot in control of an advanced Gunship built with state-of-the-art technology. (Perhaps funded by the Foundation for Law and Government?) Your primary objective hinges upon liberating the world by exterminating alleged governments said to be 'defective' or 'unstable'.
Your brief: Resolve all situations.
Thunderstrike allows players full freedom (both in 3D movement and logistics. Featuring a total of seven campaigns, each is divided into 3-6 missions, each vary from full scale War Campaigns to self-contained missions. Diligent players can enter bonus missions by successfully completing campaign/mission levels.
Your gunship is equipped with the latest in weapons technology (attack & defense) including gun-ship sniper, night vision and guided missiles. Gameplay requires tactical decision-making as you can call in additional levels of support in the form of infantry ground assault, tank battalions and air units such as helicopters and jet fighters. Additional features are listed below...we'll be back with periodic updates as they become available.
Additional Features:
- AI systems for player as well as for friendly/enemy forces.
