The Next Level Feature Feature: Tokyo Game Show 2003 Report

All the cool kids are talking about Excite's Priston Tale!

Game Infinity are... are... Actually, I'm not sure.

Nexen Japan had a pretty little open-concept booth.

A number of Taiwanese game companies shared space against SNK Playmore's ample bussom. They included M-etel, Game Dragon Technology and Lager Interactive.

In order to reach the other hall, one had to momentarily brave the blinding sun and the hordes of costumers lurking between buildings. After making one's way through a gauntlet of promotion companies and their survey-weilding minions, one would find one's self amidst some very big players indeed.

Square-Enix's flash-defying booth.

Sora was happy to be there, and not in the least put out to find that someone had stolen his hairdo.

The future of gaming is soft.

Sega had a balloon theme going, with giant inflatable monoliths looming over their demo stations. Since Nintendo wasn't present, we'll have to rely on Sega if we wanna catch 'em all!

Oh yeah, Konami was there too. I think they had some games or something to show.

Genki was also part of the "Konami Group" at the show.

Konami was also sharing space with Hudson. Everyone was happy with this arrangement.

See?

Some company named "Sony Computer Entertainment" was there too, promoting some "Eye Toy" thingee...

...and something called "Grand Tourismo." Apparently there's four of these now.

Complete with motion sickness induction technology!

Ratchet and Clank are HUGE in Japan. Well, the statue was reasonably big anyway.

These "Sony" guys were pushing something they liked to call "Online." No, I don't know either.

And they had a spooky booth for Siren. You had to be 15 to get in there; I'm well into my twenties, so they wouldn't let me in.

Capcom was present in full force, and had a booth that was interactive inside and out, replete with neck-killing suspended screens for those poor saps who couldn't actually get a chance to play.

She is assuring us that Capcom loves us and only has our best interests in mind.

And the people agree!

The mighty Capcom logo absorbs all light, rendering their giant Onimusha 3 balloons ineffective.
